Know what? It's actually something to be proud of in a way. All that time and we still get the support and affection for the club that is second to none.

No bandwagon jumpers among us Blades. You see another Blade you know he/she is the real deal.

Couldn’t agree more, name me another club that has constantly tested its fans loyalty like ours has in the past, not even a cup final or European appearance in the last 50 years (the period of my support) & so many time fell at the last hurdle yet we still maintain our passion & loyalty as fans, staggering but also something to be proud of.

The other side to this is our neighbours abject failure to capitalise on our shortfalls & move off into the horizon out of sight, NO, they remain a similarly sized club & support in every way but their heads which keep them deluded into believing they are streets ahead due to ONE cup win (which can’t be denied was a great achievement). Forest, Man U ( pre City investment) Liverpool, Arsenal, even Bristol City have managed this but not Wendy, admit it or not they have only been a slight more successful than us in the past 50 years & STILL to this day can’t admit it.
Take a bow every single Blade of all ages, staggering loyalty & passion & long may it continue!!!

Just to add that we haven’t been brainwashed by our elders either, my Dad always told me we’d never win owt as we walked towards the Lane on match days!

Newcastle are a genuinely massive club but they haven't won anything since 1955.

I think that's worse than us.

The Mickey Mouse cup that wasn't even recognised by UEFA which was set up to promote trade fairs and was tantamount to a bunch of friendlies?

Oh yeah, great achievement.
Seeing as you hold Wikipedia in such high regard,I suggest you have a look at the teams who competed in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in the 1968/69 season

Yeah I've never heard of half of them.

Never even heard of the team Newcastle beat in the final.

Says it all really.

Tell you what take the argument up with a Newcastle fan, tell them it wasn’t a major trophy at the time.
