That can't be right...he isn't white . Haven't I read somewhere on this form that some fans believe he only signs white players.. ;-)

Well, according to the pantone range of footballing colours young Dom is a few shades off a mocha-choca-latte....assuming that this type of nonsense matters.

I, myself, can happily be categorised as a pale-salmon-beige, so please, never call me a white man......say it loud, I'm salmon and I'm proud!

I have met Dominic's mum a few times at the deaf club as she works as a carer to deaf/partially blind person. I am pleased for the family although I have yet to see Dominic play
I've seen him once and thought he looked very promising.
His name pops up on the under21's goal sheet quite a lot too.

Is the biggest talent from the academy at the moment?

Who are the six others that have been offered contracts?

Pretty much.

Jake Eastwood, Ioan Evans, Dan Cockerline, Jake Wright, Kler Heh and David Brooks have got another year. Brooks joined recently from Man City, where he's been since 8 years old (joined due to lack of opportunities there).

Reedy and now Calvert-Lewin are obviously on longer term deals.

Fahad Ishmail, Joe Cheeseman, MJ Kedman and Jamie Hinchliffe will be released at the end of the season.

Sorry DazBlade88 , just seen you'd already replied.

Good news that - could save me going to Scotland to catch bugger all

Don't think me forward, but can we meet?

He'll have a bad attitude according to some on here?

Yeah like we spend £26m on a striker and don't play him or the youth.

C'mon Grumps - you can do better than that.

DDeG knows that NC gives the youth a chance but for some reason isn't prepared to fight for a place or display the hunger required to secure one - it's as though he thinks he's made it as he has played for the Italy U18 & 20

Yes he is. There's no need to say any more :)

Jake Eastwood, Ioan Evans, Kler Heh, David Brooks, Jake Wright (all 2 years) & Dan Cockerline (1 year)

Fahad Ishmail, MJ Kedman and Joe Cheeseman are all being released. I think that's all the second years.

Are any of the retained lads (a) over 5 foot 8 or (b) strikers?

*Not sure if serious*

Dom Calvert-Lewin can play on the wing or up front and is 6'1" (0.96 on the Bergen Blade Shawcross scale)

Jake Eastwood - goalkeeper, over 5'8"
Ioan Evans - centre half, over 5'8"
Kler Heh - winger, ?
David Brooks - central midfielder, under 5'8"
Jake Wright - striker, ?
Dan Cockerline - striker, over 5'8"

Pleased for the lad and i've seen him play on a numerous of occasions, he has talent there's no doubt about it and i'm sure he'll get a chance before the season is out aslong as his attitude stays as it is which is great, we all know Clough is big on attitude so DCL must have a good one other wise he wouldn't have signed him.

I am serious.

One thing that has struck me about recent youth prospects is that the better ones (save Maguire) are little.

Plus the club has developed the grand total of 4 decent or semi decent strikers from the youth ranks in 30 odd years (Morris, Mendonca, Sharp, Philliskirk), and for one reason or another we did not see the best of any of them at the Lane. It's one of the reasons why we don't score enough goals - the youth strikers never push on.

I would like to see someone other than right backs (good as they have been) or tiny midfielders make the step up one of these days.

What was the Bergen scale again? This made me laugh but I can't remember why!
