All I'm saying is that managers....IMO....should keep their cards close to their chest, regardless of who is watching. He might not have been what the scouts were ideally looking for, but his comments may have alerted those who were looking for such a player.
Its all about being as discreet as possible about your intentions. If you start stating that someone is a great player then it also makes those other interesting clubs think "we better move fast, they might offer him a contract soon!"
Blackwell's comments about Calve might have made no difference at all, I accept that. But they certainly wouldnt help anyone.
