Callum Wilson

I know we're moving upwards, fast. But he'd be beyond us as a young, English, proven striker at the top level. You're talking £40m+. We're not there yet.

Young? He's 27. Hardly past his best but he has one big move in him so won't fit the profile of signing we're now going for.

It's a shame we won't get him. Our own fault for turning down a £1m deal to sign Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke

Sliding doors moment; in an alternate universe we sign Wilson and Clarke and get promoted from League One at the end of 2013/14. Danny Wilson stays on as manager, we spend the next few seasons battling the drop from the Championship. Wilder never joins us and instead takes Charlton from the third tier to the brink of Europe.

Didn't Wilson move for £3m at the end of that season anyway? Where did the £1m figure for both come from?

Good finisher but apart from the first 25 minutes when they were swarming us, I thought he did fuck all apart from get settled down for the afternoon in Egan's pocket.
He bullied Egan first half and then seemed to hover around in a deep position in no mans land causing us and Egan ( luckily for him ) no concerns

Don't know what game you were watching but reduced Egan to his worst game this season, he was crapping himself every time Wilson got the ball.

Egan has put in some mighty performances this season but yesterday was not one of them, Wilson was a constant threat all game.

Thought that too. Rather than being available for £1m, I thought we offered something like that and were told in no uncertain terms to do one by Coventry.

True but they were just coming out of admin at the time and could have done with the money. We had just got the Prince on board and were prepared to spend some cash.

"The only way we will sell a player is if our valuation is met," he said.

That said even back then I thought £1million to £1.5million was too cheap especially if we were hoping to get a then younger Leon Clarke as part of the deal.

Anyway Bournemouth snapped him up a year later for just £3million.

I think those who watched MOTD will remember he was highlighted in the second half for not being further up the pitch. That may have been manager's orders of course.

I think they were the managers orders, they went far too defensive as a unit.

Nah, far from Bomb Proof, had his fair share of injuries, 2 seasons reasonable return with Bmuff .... 4 not

Well you’re bloody confident of our memories. I only knew what I had to eat yesterday because I was egg-bound this morning.

Definitely instruction. I said yesterday I thought their tactics after going a goal up were cowardly. Also baffling when they looked so good when they played a bit.

Wilson was the first striker in a while to really stand out against us. Very impressive performance.

I suppose you were there to witness Callum Robinson tear us a new one or Sam Morsy absolutely boss the game against us when we used to bat those aside too??

Always liked Wilson from his Coventry days didn't him & Leon put us to the sword one game, said yesterday Bournemouth really disappointed me with their tactics thought they were beyond that.

Wilder singled him out in his post match interview, if they go down I would expect us to be in for him, Wilder holds him in high regards, he’d be excellent in our team.
Two crucates won't last another 4 years at top level

Thought Ollie McBurnie gave a much better overall performance than Wilson, yesterday.

Ollie is looking like the real deal to me. Affects the game hugely, even if he doesn’t score. And he has already scored some very important goals.

Started well, got his goal, did fuck all else to bother us.
Except run the channels brilliantly getting in behind our defence on many occasions, setting Fraser away on the wing with deft headers. Setting Fraser up for the shot that Hendo made a great save from and scoring a goal, then yes he did fuck all.

Announce Player of the Year.

It was a Marc McNulty performance. You'd probably clap him off because of his tap in, but really it was a nowt display.

Get real Keef, apart from his performance outlined by Bladesthorpe, that goal was a beautifully executed piece of skill, hardly a tap in.
