CONFIRMED Callum Semple loaned to Queen of the South

Thought it was worth a thread on his own. Callum has gone out on loan to Queen of the South after being recommended to Gary Naismith the manager by Chris Morgan This move is agreed by all parties as he will get the game time he needs. He has had impressive games against Livingston and Hearts and could feature in the opening fixture on Saturday only thing is he needs International Clearance papers

Is it with a view to a permanent transfer, or with a view to coming back more ready for the first team?
 
Great move for a talented, strong and ball playing centre back. He seems to have dealt with his injury very well and the sky’s the limit for this kid.

Its for 6 months and he will get first team games. Championship teams in Scotland play 2 games a week in the first weeks and Callum can play his part it will be interesting how it pans out at the end of the year as it would need another contract to be put in place

No chance of a permanent deal; QotS couldn't afford him and anyway, Semple is highly rated at the academy. This gives him the perfect opportunity to show he can cope with the professional game and that he's over that serious knee injury. Working with Gary Naysmith can only help his development too.
 
It is a great move for Semple.

Due to his injury this move would have happened 12 months ago.

A good solid 30 games in first team football with a good young manager to help him develop.

Very good move for QOTS , SUFC and for Callum Semple.
 
I’m a bit disappointed that we haven’t offered him a new contract yet.
 
I think semple will be offered a new deal when he comes back. Had a serious injury so is still coming back from it, can see a new deal on the table January imo.
 
His contract was up this Summer and was extended until July 2019.

Pretty fair I feel as they must make sure he fully recovers from his injury before dishing out longer contracts.

Yeah, I’m just concerned that if he does well a Scottish club might try to nick him off us. I don’t think they even have to pay compensation. How much more will we hate Gerrard if Semple ends up at Ibrox and we get nowt.

Highly doubt wilder would let it get to that stage, he'll be closely monitored, if he impressed mid way through his loan move, a contract would be offered Id like to think.
 



Semple is contracted to the summer of 2019.

If he impresses CW I am sure a new contract will be offered but football is about opinions. If CW is not keen then the lads football career will start elsewhere.... it’s just being a realistic.

I for one hope this lad is playing for our club next season. Never gives less than 8 out 10 every match. Totally reliable as a center back.

Not to mention his determination to come back from a serious injury. He’s a unit compared to what he was like before the injury
 
after the horrible injury it's great for him to get a chance to play a season of first team football. I'm slightly wary that by clearing all our kids out we leave ourselves exposed.

Chelsea, Watford, Rangers, Celtic and Newcastle have all loaned 19 year old kids to clubs in the Scottish Championship this summer.
Gives the young lad 30 first team games before Christmas, train and travel with the first team every day, develop with a different manager and players.

In Callum Semple case it is a perfect club to play at to aid his recovery from a serious injury.

Would rather see a lad go on loan to play lots of games than to a higher club and only play 6 or so games before coming back.

semple has already played against two Premier clubs and is in line to play a 3rd in a couple of weeks Our loan policy is about game time and he will get plenty of that if he performs as we know he can
 
I rate Semple, Graham, Gilmour and Ty Smith.

All will have a career in the game. Just remains to be seen if it’s with SUFC.

Good luck to all our youngsters going out on loan.
