To compare this season to historical events, I’m thinking the Somme. What do you mean ‘become’ ?
I can see that happening.I don’t think he will be sold. It’s very late to be doing that.
Just a couple of thoughts i find interesting:
He’s arguably the only reason to play 4-2-3-1 now.
Unless you move BBD or Chong into the 10 role, you could argue then the remaining staff lend themselves more to a simple 4-4-2; Donovan and BBD out wide and then perm 2 from Bamford, Oné, Cannon and Campbell. Alternatively 3-5-2 with two out and out forward players.
Who else could fill in for him? Peck perhaps? Arblaster? I think Peck played further forward when he came through.
If he went I’d imagine Chris Wilder might ditch the idea of a 10 entirely and get a big target man.
Other thing is, what price would make you sell? If someone offered 10m then it would be hard to turn down.
If someone offered 5m I think we’d be knocking it back. How much do you reckon would be simply too compelling?
It’s not about how much we get. Money is only good enough if it brings in an equivalent or better replacement(s).Other thing is, what price would make you sell? If someone offered 10m then it would be hard to turn down.
£10m accept it. We all know that this season is a write off, I’d snatch 16th now with a view of committing to a younger, fresher squad for next season.
And play who, creatively?£10m accept it. We all know that this season is a write off, I’d snatch 16th now with a view of committing to a younger, fresher squad for next season.
I mean absolute dog shit boring..if O'Hare goes.....................I would defo miss Cooper hoofing every kick out to the little fella. What do you mean ‘become’ ?
I accept it will make us a weaker squad but if safety was guaranteed then I can’t be arsed with the whole needing to sell desperation of next seasonAnd play who, creatively?
I hope we change this desperate transfer policy we seem to have adoptedCommitting to a younger, fresher squad for next season would involve signing some now.
We are committing to an aging, injury prone squad of journeymen for the next 2/3 seasons currently
Sell our now only creative player to cash in and then we'll complain even more when we play hoof ball. Its madness. We should be offering him a new deal not selling him.I’m on the fence a bit. On one side, he’s one of our best players and it’s yet another talent we’d be letting go and more than likely, downgrading on.
On the flip side, if we can get good money for him now, we should. He’ll otherwise have one year left on his deal and be sold on the relative cheap next summer, something we’ve been doing way too much of in recent years (Ndiaye, Berge, Bogle, Anel, Brooks and Hamer). It’s probably our last chance to get good money for him.
I guess on balance I am less bothered about him leaving as it makes good business sense for the right price. I am more concerned with what’d be next. Who do we bring in? Where’s our next pipeline of saleable assets/players that can grow with us? If we can’t address that side of the equation than the first part becomes irrelevant over the medium/long-term.
This would strengthen them, weaken us and we’ll not see £10m or £10 quid reinvested.Has to be a 10m+ fee at this stage of the window.
I’d be staggered if he’d sign a new deal with us in our current state.Sell our now only creative player to cash in and then we'll complain even more when we play hoof ball. Its madness. We should be offering him a new deal not selling him.
We do not need creative players, we just lump it forward for Bamford and cannon to chase. Does not work but that is what we doAnd play who, creatively?
I hope we change this desperate transfer policy we seem to have adopted
