I heard that he signed his contract on the pitch yesterday, but Blackie obviously took the pressure off him and said theres obviously no pressure on him to break the first team any time soon, a source within the club suggested that he's 1-2 years away from the first team.

I don't know much about him other than what's been on the OS and the FA website as he's an U16 International.

So is he any good? I read he's a left back (or left sided defender). I'd have thought that give him some time with Naysmith and he'll be in good hands.

Also are there other lads that look decent? I know George Willis is also in the England U16s, so he must be pretty decent

The saddest bit about that signing is everyone simply thought if he's any good he'll be off six months after his debut.

I like Blackwell but I think he struggles to understand the difference between days, weeks and months. Several of our players have been due to be out for two months only to return for the next game!

To me he is like the 'Boy that cried wolf' both Henderson and Williamson were supposedly out till end of February yet Williamson came on yesterday and Henderson was having a fitness test before the game
More Blackwell bullshit!

I would've thought that this, being a positive about a young prospect signing pro forms, couldn't have been twisted into "another thing I hate about Blackie..." thread.

So I've edited my original post.

Now back to the main point of the post ....:D

can you find me the quote where KB said that both players were out until the end of February ?

It was said on Sky the other night by the commentator and on another message board but I haven't seen KB(or Speed) say this.

Another excuse tohave a go at Blackwell ?

Sorry Bart my fault. Can't be arsed to find it but I remember reading it in probably The Star where he said it would be a massive bonus if either Williamson or Henderson were back before the end of January!

Thank you for confirming that he didn't say it

Bartman, this was on teamtalk on 24th Dec

Williamson is struggling with a hamstring problem and striker Henderson has pulled a gluteal muscle.

Kevin Blackwell said: "If either player is back in contention before the end of January it would be an unexpected bonus."

McFadzean is 16 therefore shouldn't be considered anything like a first teamer for at least another 2 seasons. He does look very good when playing for England U16's though when I watched them in the summer.

So he didn't say they were out until the end of February (as was the accusation) and he was obviously worried that the injuries were worse than as first feared. So this is the 'unexpected bonus' rather than Blackwell talking 'bullshit'.

I'veno problem with people on here wanting to critisise Blackwell, the club or McCabe but at least get the the facts right first.

I am waiting for someone to claim in January that we always 'under sell/value' our players .

If I heard correctly the announcer said he had signed a 4 year contract. I watched him play for the England side and he's a left back who likes to get forward.

Cheers Willie Carlin!

Any others on the verge?

I remember we used to get the youngsters signing pro contracts on the pitch on what seemed to be a regular basis.

I watched Lowton and Wedgbury play for Ferevarous pre season at Barnsley and I liked the look of em' both although they look a bit lightweight but then they are only young un'. I think the idea to send them to Hungary was to give them the experience they need to play league football.

Well the academy are not doing too well at the moment. But I think we've all heard of Brown who could be looking to join the first team next season.

Then again with kids you never really know how they are going to turn out. 15-19 can make big differences in who makes it and who doesn't.

Now Blackie has won his little empire building exercise and got Ron Reid out of the way he might actually start looking to bring some through.

His older brother Kyle also came through our academy. He's now at Alfreton Town.

Saw Kyle and Callum having a kickabout at the Davys ground(Throstles home ground) last October. They must have played for the Throstles?

Saw him play for England u16 v Wales at Yeovil , he was man of the match for me and many others around me,hes got pace, stamina, good first touch, always looked comfortable on the ball and liked to get forward when the oppurtunity arose. Also watched him on the telly v jockland and again he impressed.....hopefully a gem for the future

I think with any youth football, realistically you're not going to get many that actually make it. One or two a year would be good - so the fact they aren't doing well as a team isn't really important. It's the odd player standing out that matters, though that could be hindered in a poor teams I suppose.

UTB

Kingsley James is another decent lad with prospects of becoming a good player.
