I’m not denying it’s an easier journey to Wrexham, but players from the North West have signed for us before and not moved house, so it’s easily commutable.
TBF I'd expect a multi million pound signing to move house, the lazy get. If I was an athlete I would live as close to the training ground as I could . . . beyond the mean streets of our actual training ground, but you know what I mean

Seen a few ex pros talking about how longer commutes (mainly by car) aren't always ideal for training and matches, owing to the longer amounts of time spent sat down in the car.
They could always move to the town they are playing in. Not always a viable option if u have kids in school etc but for a 21 yr old its easy enough

The thing is, it is also about getting the right experienced people into the club to take it forward. That's where the problem lies, we don't have that situation. For example Villla have a guy as a President of Business Operations taking their commercial department forward who previously worked for Barcelona, Juventus and Roma. Their principal sponsorship deal with Betano, including front of shirt is worth £40M.
Absolute madness that a shirt sponsor dwarfs the turnover of most championship clubs

Surely they have to consider their children too.

My kids are 14 & 10 and if I moved them to another school, let alone another city it would rip them in half.

If they're in the PL. The TV show is just a side thing.

They're already sponsored by Meta and United Airlines.
Imagine what they'll attract as a PL club.

If they get there this season or next, I think they'll stay up and become a sustained PL team.
If it starts to stagnate for 4 or 5 years and they're still in CH. Then yeah, I reckon theyll have missed their chance
There is absolutely no way Wrexham will be anywhere close to promotion this year. I like Doyle but the rest of their signings are all a bit ‘meh’ for me. And Phil Parkinson is the manager…

Should get their first win on Saturday though

The chap in question would have to have been a 7 year old dad though for that example to apply :). . . . And I agree with family considerations being a part of an athlete making decisions (or us) but I also think a club can expect that part of the package is to be able to readily get to work

Unfortunately that's the way football has gone.
Yeah, also a bit maddening that we always seem a bit behind trying to get good income streams. It might just be my impression but we sometimes seem slow to confirm sponsors. We should be trying to increase and leverage social media followers for example, to be more attractive to sponsors.

I know we are a stratosphere away from Villa too btw.

But "First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women" (Scarface)

You'd assume the location remark was why he'd prefer Wrexham to Rangers. Then with us vs Wrexham, they're probably offering more money and as it stands are putting together a better squad than ours
Probably didn’t need to watch him 30 times before contemplating whether or not to put a lowball offer in as well!

It’s why McGoldrick was always injured at Ipswich and then played consistently for us, he was commuting from Nottingham to Ipswich for training and that caused him loads of problems.
