We have no idea what our budget would beFucking daft though isn’t it, and a huge risk that you need to get right with our budget.

Thing is that’s likely to be the going rate for most of our targets if we go up unfortunately. We haven’t shown we have the scouting network to pick up unknown gems and we probably don’t have the luxury of being able to recruit players to stash and develop as well need starting calibre players and quite a few of them so even if we expand our recruitment a little bit this summer it’s still likely to be mainly UK based maybe with a few forays in the Scandinavia and the big European leagues. If we go up most teams are going to slap a premium on the asking price as soon as a prem team is interested. They’ll want a daft fee though which I think will make the deal more of a stretch. He’s a talented player who’s only nailed down a role in a mid table championship side so should be £5m tops but they’ll be wanting closer to treble that. Crazy!
We know it’s not going to be at the level where £15-20m (plus wages) can be blown on a single young player with no return if he doesn’t make it at the level needed. We have no idea what our budget would be
No we don't. We just spent ten million on a striker. We know it’s not going to be at the level where £15-20m (plus wages) can be blown on a single young player with no return if he doesn’t make it at the level needed.
Yes, new owners came in and made a statement signing. It’s hardly uncommon or an indication of future intention but fine. They could be willing to spend hundreds of millions on us to keep us up, in which case it wouldn’t be a problem. If they don’t then it is a risk?No we don't. We just spent ten million on a striker.
We have no idea what our budget is. Yes it could have been a early doors massively inflated transfer or it could be the new normal only time will tell!Yes, new owners came in and made a statement signing. Biggest problem Forest had is that they also lost £46 million in the year they went up from the Championship and £34 million the year before. Combined with a £68 million loss their first year up they blew P&S. Not sure what what our figures will be for this season but we turned a profit last year so I'm sure we have plenty of wiggle room if the owners want to invest that sort of money. We know it’s not going to be at the level where £15-20m (plus wages) can be blown on a single young player with no return if he doesn’t make it at the level needed.
I live in hope that these owners are happy to spend at Forest levels just to say fuck you to the FFP stuff but even if we have £100m plus you can’t waste 20% of it on a punt and hope.
Ipswich may be saved by a scramble for Delap but otherwise they’re going to take a hit next season as getting back what they spent is similar to us and Berge/Brewster. We got back 3 times what we paid for Ramsdale and we were still struggling to cover our ongoing costs in the Championship.
Ipswich may have owners willing or able to cover those costs but they made very good, solid signings from the Championship and it was expensive.
Whatever we lost in our first championship season after premier league will be close to this year. Small squad first half of the season might have helped but we did spend a lot in January.Biggest problem Forest had is that they also lost £46 million in the year they went up from the Championship and £34 million the year before. yes but there's a 50 million+ drop off in TV revenue plus tickets and sponsorship etcWe made profit from player sales this Summer.
Ive no doubt there will be a loss this season although run to play offs will help. It will be nothing like the scale of losses that Forest made in those two seasons (£80 million). I should imagine it will balance against the profit from last year. We effectively will be entering if we go up with a zero balance.yes but there's a 50 million+ drop off in TV revenue plus tickets and sponsorship etc
It’s not the FFP that concerned me, if you spend £300m you should get 9 more points than the 3rd worst team. However I don’t think we do, so it’s going back down with those contracts, still owing money on those deals for a young player who hasn’t proven himself at even the higher championship level. Let’s hope they’re loaded and willing to risk/lose a few hundred million.Biggest problem Forest had is that they also lost £46 million in the year they went up from the Championship and £34 million the year before. If we go up I'd personally be happy if we went down, gave a good go but had a significantly improved squad than the one we had at the start and even end of last summer. Relegation clauses need to be included in contracts to partially mitigate this. His refusal to accept one was a reason for Tommy Doyle not coming permanently. It’s not the FFP that concerned me, if you spend £300m you should get 9 more points than the 3rd worst team.
