To all you season ticket holders I would seriously appreciate some of you own experiences.

Although I have supported the blades all my life, I have never (until recently) been in a position whereby I could afford a season ticket. Now with my current wage increase I may well be in that position.

Now I appreciate that the prices that have been released are for the renewals of existing tickets, and I also appreciate that fans such as yourselves who are already holders should be given first refusal on their existing seats. Therefore at this moment in time and until the prices are released to the general public I don’t know how much it will cost but I can assume that it will not raise by too much and therefore be in my price range still.

What I am trying (in vain) to establish are the methods available to purchase a season ticket, and by purchase I mean to pay for. After several futile attempts at getting information from the Box Office (who might I add seem to make sure that when I call I get the village idiot or the YTS temp) I am still none the wiser. I can accept that there are still many unknowns to the staff of the box office but surely they should know what methods exist to pay for them. The only information that I can get from the people that I have spoken to is that I need to call back when tickets are on general release to establish the method of payment.

I can understand that this subject may be trivial to allot of the members already, however this is something that I am starting to get extremely annoyed about. I am unable to pay the sort of money for a season ticket in one single go (and for reasons of my own personal business do not possess credit cards or cheque books) however what I am told is that a Direct Debit method of payment is unlikely due to the fact that they need them paid up by September.

We have all read constantly that keeping the fans in BDTBL is a very important part of the future of the blades, so much so that the brilliant U12 offer has been released which can only be described as a move of brilliance by Mr McCabe, in addition to this Mr McCabe was speaking on Football Heaven about the prices and what the fans mean to the club however it seems that if the only way to pay for a season ticket is in one go then surely this is in fact making many fans unable to do so. I don’t understand this logic.

In seasons past when the season tickets were issued in one large booklet then yes it would be a logistical nightmare to try and run a setup in this manner. however when the technology to turn someone’s season ticket (card) off at the touch of a button then why can this method of payment not be achieved.

Any who that the main rant over, but my question is this (and without wanting to get too personal) how do you pay for yours

When I first paid, and every renewal since, I've just stuck it on a card - either credit card or Maestro. For the past 3 or 4 years I've been bought a big empty money-box type of tin, and stuck all spare £1 and £2 coins, ten bobs and the odd note in. Most of the cost is met by that, leaving little or no money to find up front. Make the odd sacrifice - instead of a night in the pub stick twenty quid or so in the tin. It soon mounts up. The money from the tin either gets paid into my current account, or settles the credit card balance.

Savings account... £70 of my monthly wages goes out on the day after pay day.

On a smaller scale, I also try and put away all the 1ps, 2ps, 5ps and 10ps I get my hands on and change it about once a year. Probably adds up to about £50 so will come in handy when I need to buy FA Cup Final tickets :D

I've been lucky up until now that it's been a concession ticket. Full whack this year and there's enough in the pot to cover it. Will pay all in one go on debit card I think.

I always find it amusing that when ST renewals come round, people suddenly realise they have to pay for them :)

I don't mean you MAQ, as circumstances have recently changed which means you can buy one. But all those people who've had season tickets for years surely know when the club is going to be calling on you for money. Don't act surprised! :)

if i'm honest i suspected that the majority of you would have either paid by card or saved throughout the season, and if id have know back when i would have done the same.

i want intending the thread to seem as though i was just throwing myteddy out the pram about this, but im damn sure that i am not the only person in a position like this and as such would have thought that the club may have options available.

Im not so annoyed that they might not operate in this manner, more that when a question is raised it doesnt get a response. If it is something that they dont do just tell me, i am a grown man and as such can take this type of news.........

...........................................just dont tell me that santa doesnt exist or i might jump o f a high building

I think the only way you could do it now would be to get a credit card with interest free for a certain period, put ST on that, cut it up and pay it off before interest free period ran out. But you've already said you don't do CCs so I guess that's out.

The only other way would be to set up a DD scheme of your own between now and August. Being as you're getting a ST for the first time, you're not as tight on the deadline as renewal people are. If you get paid on the last day of the month, you have April, May, June and July's pay days. New STs are usually about £20 more than renewals so at most:

£429 / 4 = £107.25

It's only the same as the club taking the money out in four instalments and then you can go down in the beginning of August and buy your ST outright.

thats worth looking into, the other option is to see if a family member with a CC can help.

ill look into it, and see what i can come up with.

I use INGdirect as a pot for my ST money. You set up a DD with your current account and once you've deposited £1 by cheque, all further transfers are sorted out with a click of a button.

I'm not on commission honest, just a very easy way to save :)
