Outgoing? Burrows

Look at how Duffy went afterwards and ourselves. I loved Duffy but it was a move that while potentially unpopular worked out very well for us.

No chance he would cut it in the premier league considering we, rightly, went to a flat 3 in midfield. Where would you put him?!

I'd argue it was THE perfect time to get rid. Something that doesn't happen often

We'll definately have to agree to disagree on that tbh.

If you look at CW's signings that summer he blatantly, and I think he has admitted this, planned on a slight tweak from 3412 in the promotion year to 3421 once we were promoted.

It's why Freeman and Robinson were 2 of our marquee signings that summer.

If that was the plan I don't see how Duffy wouldn't have at least warranted a place on the bench if you're playing 2 behind a central striker.

Do you genuinely think Duffy wouldn't have contributed that season?

After how great he was the season before when we were promoted 🤔 .

Yes. To the detriment of the team. There was no need. It was the usual from Wilder. Perceived challenge to his authority. What might we have done with Duffy? Who knows. Maybe 2 places better. Maybe not. You’re missing the point about his style of “management”.
Duffy's preseason "run" on the Inside Shirecliffe video, his poor loan spells at Stoke and Den Haag that season, then him dropping to L1>L2>non-League within 17 months lead me to think otherwise.

Which is also where he’d played all of his football prior to joining us (ie. Never played in the prem).

You can "think otherwise" to your hearts content. That's your prerogative.

My perspective is that we had an absolute key part of the reason we had been promoted that was bombed out as he had the absolute audacity to knock on Wilder's door and ask for a pay rise.

Oh how very dare he.

Completely different skills are required, playing left wing,in a midfield four. You are often facing the wrong way, when receiving the ball to feet. When to protect it, when to turn, when to support the attack, when to stay back. All difficult skills and not just easy to adapt to. It also requires more running as you are a midfielder in essence, not just an attacking left back. Burrows was hopeless when played in central midfield. I don't feel he has the awareness, stamina or discipline to play further forward.

Well if you say so, then i guess it must be so.
