the simple fact remains; we were given assurances that a lot of investment would take place upon reaching the championship.

Assurances?

Some daft unguarded comments in an interview are now 'Assurances '. Presumably he could be sent down in a court of law then for these heinous crimes.

Wow, some people really do have it for McCabe.

Seriously I think that's a more realistic take on the comments than the GCI comments. You'd have to be a bit simple to believe we were going to match their spending. In fact totally gaga.

Actions are all that matter and the results will be known in due course. It's not the right time to be criticising the board just yet, their actions should be judged after the full season not halfway through August.

As Chairman & the savvy businessman he is, he shouldn't be making "daft unguarded comments" - surely he's more experienced than that?

Look back at the original press article & re read it, they don't strike me as daft unguarded comments.

Sorry. My bullshit meter blew up. So everything is just conjuncture and opinion on your part, but that obviously means you are right.

How about your irony meter? I mean, earlier on you were pontificating about irony ... seems you don't quite know what it is. FYI - WWF knows how much the budget it. He does. He said so. Unless ... hang on ... that is where the conjecture is.

Deary me. Back under your rock Pompey. 6 points already from 4 games, above the pigs, in 10th place, with a manager who loves the club, is getting everything he wants for the player HE wants yet still your boring rhetoric is poisoning the forum and trying to put a negative slant on everything.

Nice try. This discussion is about what McCabe said he was going to do, versus what he has actually done, and the mugs who believe him and defend him when he doesn't. Not what is happening currently in the league.

Poisoning the forum. Hah. Boy do I feel bullied now.

So your biggest complaint is that someone on a message board has said he knows something and you don't know if he really does or not.

Well, it would help if he came out with the inside track on what he says he knows.

Do you know?

pommpey

I get that people wish to defend the club, but the simple fact remains; we were given assurances that a lot of investment would take place upon reaching the championship. We've reached the championship, and so far we have not seen that level of investment and are currently not even in a deficit but a substantial surplus. Most sensible people would recognise people's concerns with this.

Stop it Barney.

a. You are bullying McCabe
b. He didn't say anything like that. Ever. At all. Nope
c. We have enough players and they are good enough. Even for the PL. In fact, watch out Barcelona.
d. Those players won't ever get injured or suspended. If they did, Basham would just play in their position. Sorted.
e. Wilder will pull on a shirt and go out for ten anyway. And he's happy as a pig in shit. Well, not a 'pig' as in 'pig', but y'know ...
f. McCabe. WHATTAGUY!

pommpey

If you're anti-McCabe though, saying he's a liar is like having a go at Hitler because he had a stupid moustache.

I mean, I know people have issues trusting the things McCabe says but at the end of the day things were said.

What were we meant to do, presume he didn't mean it?

That's one daft argument you've got there if so.

No, Barney. When will you ever learn?

We are to presume he never SAID it in the first place. Or if he said it, he's actually done what he said he'd do. Or if he hasn't done what he said he'd do, it's the fault of those who ask why he hasn't. Or summat. In any case, get of his back and stop bullying him. Poor Kev.

I am relieved he has not mentioned the spectre of us profiting from sales of former playe ... oh, hang on.

Must be some kind of record for the amount of straw men arguments you can fit in one post.

a. No idea. WWF fan knows, mind. I have asked him, but he's gone all quiet now. b. Historically, no manager under contract has said any such thing. c. We need a central defender and have done since Harry left.

a. Because the players we sign from below won't have the skillsets, maybe? I dunno. Maybe Carruthers is the answer. Baldock? Thomas? Wilder is certainly running them straight out, isn't he? b. See above. c. See above. d. Because, apparently, we were meant to be getting investment when we were promoted.

We're in surplus?

Really?

Bloody marvellous, investors should be queuing up to buy a non loss making Championship team. Easy route to the top for them.

Understand someone angrily rambling for the sake of it?
At least you've stopped pissing and whining about the pitch.

The biggest and most long standing straw man has to go to the classic claim that people are arguing McCabe siphons the clubs money off in to his own pocket. When really they're doing nothing of the sort.

What Wilder says to his Chairman when he's not appehhhh

Six months later, he was gone. Besides, this wasn't about giving the manager funds to strengthen for the Championship. Wilder is a year into his contract, at a team of his dreams under a manager who is a leedle beet quick with the trigger finger.

Let's see.

Is the truth.

And imagine how Spurs fans felt when they were signing young kids from Sheff Utd and Milton Keynes, and them a Premiership club too

Yep. Alli went for five million. Clear that at MKD he was leagues above his team. See also the Kyles.

Say that about Lundstram? Thomas?

We should have the (substantial) deficit of money in vs money out, and then the deficit of other costs and expenses on top.

At present, money in vs money out is in a substantial surplus.

You want me to piss and whine about the pitch? Your contribution to that debate was equally pointless too.

Nothing to contribute, but slaver. Typical PeteBlade.

pommpey

I've seen multiple claims from multiple people suggesting that exact thing.
A few idiots may suggest that, no problem. The point I was making is that most people don't and that they are often presented with the classic aforementioned straw man argument.
