The buck has to stop with Atkins, but the club still needs to back him. Only 6 months in the role now and he has been able to sign a few players, so our current plight is at the very least partially his fault.
You cannot wholly absolve him of responsibility, the buck has to stop with him. His aim is to pick up the team for the rest of the season starting on Saturday, by picking the right XI, sometimes your best starting XI does not necessarily contain your 11most talented players - it is a blend of characters, qualities, and skills. I must say Atkins talks a good game in his interviews, but this is not transferred onto the field.
Though I think Atkins needs to take at least some responsibility, the club needs to back him in the January and buy experience and characters.
The majority of the squad is not made up of his own players at the moment he is simply doing what he can with what he has. I know as fans we want promotion, but we also want to see players play with passion, commitment, and with a work rate that never stops, we are getting none of that and Atkins must take the blame for not motivating the players and not getting them to play as a unit. It was a shame we lost Harry to Hull he was a Character a leader and played with his heart. I hope Atkins can create something with what he has, but so far its not looking positive, which is such a shame for all us Blades fans. What can he do differently, with the current squad with 4 crucial games coming up ?
