Blades plan to make a massive bid for Spanish sensation Sainz and the American owners are willing to spend on him if they are back in the top flight or still trying to get there.

- Nixon

Beware the hot streak. He's scored 2 in 16 since starting the season on fire

Would he make a mark in the PL?

And would he be a Hamer replacement?

He's got 1 year on his contract which may make him affordable. Same with Sargent

He’s an excellent player, only 24. His form drop ahead coincided with Norwich’s for drop. Will have hamer supplying him rather than Slimane.

Makes sense. Great age. Wilder develops players more than anyone in our history. Seems a match made in heaven for all included.

I think he looks to be a quality player. But he's not that athletic. He plays on the left. He's similar to Hamer. I don't see us being able to accommodate both of them in a PL line up

Maybe the thinking is, ambitiously, that he replaces Hamer when we go down....

Or maybe the owners are keen to spaff a fortune on another player who guarantees very little. Interesting strategy if so

Or maybe it's just early agent work, trying to engineer a departure

If we do go in for Sainz or Sargent, I'd look to offer Cannon in exchange. But no doubt the wages he'll be on puts us in a difficult spot. Especially if he gets the promotion wage rise he will so deserve...

So a goal contribution every other game? For a winger? That’s better than probably every Jan attacker signed in the championship in January I’d bet. I think you’re being very harsh.
Very good with the assists. But I'd expect at least 1 goal in every 2 starts for him at this level, in a top 2 team. But that's on the basis of last season's level, which he for some reason has fallen significantly below. He'll probably score another 2 or 3 and play a key role. But unless his overall level improves, I wouldn't be considering him for next season unfortunately, and that surprises me because I really did like him last season

Sergeant is the one Norwich player who is a class above, but he seems to have issues with injuries.

I expected more, because his around game outside of the stars hasn't been good enough. He offers no protection to the RB and does little over the 90 minutes. Hamer offers twice as much on and off the ball.

That’s a ridiculous expectation for the position he plays. Completely unrealistic.
He's occupying similar positions to last season (based on heatmaps), a division below, in a team at the top. I don't think it's unrealistic at all

But BBD has played and was a shining light in a shit season for us, in the prem, Hamer has yet to play there, and it's different football, as we can all see.
Whatever happens, we need to spend a lot if we go up!!

It is. Only the absolute elite do better than he did in that spell to expect it to carry on even at a lower level after he spent half the season on the bench is very unrealistic

Name me another player who is scoring at that rate in this division. I’ll give you a clue - there isn’t one. You’re talking out of your arse.

If you take his stats from his last 2 championship seasons, it's 73 starts and 36 goals - almost exactly 1 in 2. When he was less developed, and in a worse team than he is now

And over his whole career? I can remember when he was a bit of a bust for Blackburn who paid big money for him.

He's chipping in nicely in a side that's averaging 2.2 points per game since he joined after rotting away for 6 months
