Lundstram for Duffy and Brooks for Sharp. Right changes, right time. They contributed heavily to stifling Sunderland and also getting us the 2nd goal.

Sunderland were beginning to have more of the ball in midfield, and had some decent midfielders on the pitch who can create. This spell also coincided with the time Duffy is usually brought off.

Lundstram (who did well) gave us 3 bodies in central midfield and Brooks partly filled the void left by Duffy, splitting duties as a striker and attacking midfielder. So we were instantly more solid in midfield without losing much up front, and Brooks gave us an extra outlet and ultimately created the 2nd goal. After those subs Sunderland never looked like getting back into the game, and didn't even deserve their (annoying) consolation goal.

More quality management from Wilder. Wouldn't expect any less from him.

They were exactly the two changes i'd turned around and told my dad we should make 5 minutes earlier, and the exact response we needed to make to them introducing McManaman and overloading us down our left hand side.

Mostly in response to Grayson changing it and going 5 in midfield.

But agreed. Good subs, good timing.

If Brooks is going to be on the bench then bringing him on for Sharp is a no brainer if we're defending a lead. He gives us an outlet and also the option of another body in the central midfield area - so he offers more offensively and defensively in that situation. And if it's Donaldson he's playing behind then that's even better - we'd have two outlets, and two who I think will work well together - we got a taste of that today with the 2nd goal.

They had a 23 million pound midfield which our bargain players outplayed. Quality from our lads.
