THE FUTURE ... AS IT USED TO BE

for us. Three valuable points to the Blades, nil to the Dirties. Very pleased with our performance. I think yes, they came at us in the first half but our defending was largely excellent (the hole where Roberts got a free header and the scramble with the post hit were the only worrying moments. I knew Wilder would change the plan (not the formation) in the second half, and if anyone remembers Leeds v Norch at Bellend Road, Norch just sat deep, absorbed Leeds's advances and hit them on the counter. When you think about it, had bash converted his first half on-goal and Billy had not been legged up, it would have been the same result. We simply made them do all the work for no end result - zero shots on target and Deano with no saves to make.
I don't think we were as under the cosh as many made out - it was going to be a fine margin chance which finished the game really and so it was. To be honest I'm not a fan of having Bash in midfield - he has made his mark adequately at RCB and I still think the back three even with Cranie who is developing well looks a bit disjointed and out of sorts. I loved the way the five at the back tracked back and defended properly, lobbing themselves in the way of stuff and frustrating the fuck out of their attackers.
For the game, I think Baldock was very, very lucky, Stevens had a superb game, Norwood was possibly our poorest player, Fleck and Bash kept it tight and where needed Goldy and Billy created enough menace
As said, I couldn't be more pleased with us winning a hard fought for three points. Still in it, but a long, long way to go even with just eight games left. If the Leeds manager is having such a mardy arse about a result like that, lets hope this malaise spreads throughout the team. We managed to bounce back from AVFC 3-3 with eight cleans sheets and undefeated and a commanding position. We now need Leeds to fuck it up.
International break. Unfortunately we know what that does to our momentum.
