We thought Leon Britton was rubbish when he was here. Evans couldn't hit a bull's ass with a banjo until Wilson took over. Dyer is always praised in the premiership with Swansea, but looked like a little girl with us. Clearly our style of play did not bring the best out of many players over recent times.

Though Howard was shite for us, perhaps it would be different a 2nd time around. I couldn't get excited either way.

Sorry, but Dyer was decent when Blackwell had the sense to play him. Trouble was, by the time he cottoned onto the fact he had a decent player it was too late into his loan spell. But agree with your general point on the other players.

Howard was poor in a side pushing at the top of the Championship, playing a style of play unsuited to him. Playing a style of play that is more suited to him, against League 1 opposition, might be more successful.

I'd prefer us to look elsewhere though at a younger playmaker. One player that we'd be worth looking to loan in my view would be someone like Thomas Carroll at Spurs. Impressed in League 1 2 seasons ago at Orient, but found the Championship a bit too physical last year apparently when at Derby. I'd have thought a longer loan in a team that plays to his strengths would be attractive to Spurs.

Agree on this. We've got these 'development' players, we should try using them! Tonne needs a run as well

Fordy is fine if we are on TV (save for PO finals of course) but spends the rest of the time in the Jamie Hoyland hole. No thanks.

He can work all right in a 5 man midfield if you have a great defence and budget for nil nil or one nil all the time.

While I can't get excited about Howard its wrong to judge any players and their time here between Warnock leaving and Wilson arriving. Dyer, Brittain, Bardsley I even remember being on on forum and quite a few people questioned whether we should sign Cahill if we got the chance after his loan spell.

Also heard from one of those classic mate of a mate's mate sources that he made a wad of cash from a bet placed on his behalf on the outcome of the Play-off Final. True or not I was more than prepared to believe it on the evidence of his effort on the pitch.

No chance, quality player and will probably be wanted by a few Championship clubs.

I imagine he's also probably on a five figure salary. We couldn't afford him even if he wanted to come back!
