I know you can make for contributions for some but we spent 50m on Brewster, McBurnie and Mousset and they all left for nothing. Chansiri-esque!
I think when you put it like that, it seems staggering and is a huge amount of money for a club like us.
First season in the Premier League alone probably paid for McBurnie and Mousset, they bagged 12 goals between them out of the 39 total for the team. We didn't just stay up that season.
I think as you say, that they all left for free which is obviously something that we don't want to be doing as a club. The Prince learned from it, mostly, trying to eventually tie players down on longer contracts.
In the end though, we could've had all three on long contracts and they still get injured. Its a risk.
On the same token, we got more for Jebbison than i'd ever expected, we got a huge amount for Ramsdale when we sold him, a big fee for Osula, so there is a balance.
We sold Ndiaye and Berge for decent money rather than lose them on a free as they were both running their contracts down.
Are we tying the younger talented players down? I think mostly, yes.
