How could he? We have lost the way that we play best. Somehow we have abandoned the attacking wing play that got us to where we are today. The new players are no better than what we had. Come on Chris, get Olly and Fleck back in the team . What did they do wrong? Has Lundstram got what fleck has? Has Osborne got what Norwood has? Brwester today would have had zero service with the team put out today. Bite the bullet Chris.

You are assuming that Brewster is just going to sit in the penalty area waiting for the right delivery. He won't be if chances are limited, he will track back and make things happen himself. He is a player who can make goals himself.

So we didn’t play our way today, but we did last game.

Arsenal And Wolves know how to play us as we’ve played thema few times. Villa and Leeds got some luck, not that they didnt deserve their wins but we were better against them and both games could’ve ended differently

I'm pretty sure he's going to be significant upgrade. Burke is athletically just what we need, in that he's busy, fast and runs the channels at pace giving an out ball in a way McBurnie and Sharp simply can't. The issue is, he's fookin awful when he's got the ball this feet...

Fingers crossed Brewster can bring both athleticism and footballing ability - if he does, then we'll instantly look better.

I know we didn't make many chances today but we did in the Leeds game which I'm sure Brewster would be able to capitalise on. Also, Brewster can create his own chances in a similar way that McGoldrick did today. We don't always have to walk the ball into the net as we saw with Mousset last season and I think Brewster will be more likely to shoot from distance and create himself opportunities.

In short, I disagree with the OP.

Not sure he is that sort of player. He is not a link player or someone who chases or runs back. He comes alive on the edge of the box or inside it. I have same reservations that unless we go back to playing the way we can or find some creativity feel he will be living off scraps.

Brew the kettle, and it will score.....or is that feed the kettle and it will brew??? Either way Brewster will score goals, and lift the side, him and burke will be a nightmare for defenders, and when moose is fit to stretch defences it will be even better

Look Sir Chris knows. he will change tactics to suit Super Brewster.only played four games. Wilder will sort it no worries.

He won't unless the negative, trying to steal points here and there stops.

It was clear from the Villa game after the restart that a totally different team had turned up, that performance at Villa who were absolutely shit by the way has summed up our attitude since lockdown.

We'd done ever so well, to quote another mind numbingly boring twat that once associated with us and our players were allowed to saunter into the end of the season as some kind of reward for doing well.

Now we can't get out of it

We lost a very important player Oconnell due to injury for the season.he can overlap.some of the other centre backs can,t.so tactics had to change because of that.
Bad refs. things going against us.this won,t be for long.another centre back to sign tommorrow.no idea who.won,t be easy. one as good
However, Wilder will sort it and we will be ok. as Oconnell will cost a lot. I say again in Wilder we trust.

Lundstram isn’t playing in Flecks position. Osborn isn’t playing in Norwoods.

Other than that....

Don't really know how you can think we've abandoned wing play when we have put in 90 crosses this season. Only Fulham have done more..... Us and Fulham most crosses, wonder where else I've seen us and Fulham recently?

You’ve got to take your hat off to Leeds,Villa and Wet Spam. They seem to have adopted the “Sheff United way.” Just a shame Sheff United aren’t anymore.
Can you imagine our approach now to playing Man C, Liverpool and Leicester.....Yeah.

We shit ourselves at the thought of playing them. We kick off and run back into our own half.

I suggest CW/AK get the squad together in the morning and all sit down together and watch the Leeds,Villa and West Ham games consecutively and try rediscover how (to quote CW) to “give it a go.” against the top teams.

If we are going to get relegated.....Fair enough. But to quote Chris Wilder again, let’s do in “walking out the front door”.....not sneaking out the back.

I wouldn't say Burke is awful with the ball. He is just inconsistent in his decision making and occasionally clumsy. On the moments where he has got his head up and cut inside he has looked like causing problems.

Add to that, if Brewster can start to anticipate Burke's cut backs and give him some movement to work with, it could make a dangerous pairing.

He's going to have to as this current team aren't going to create any for him on current selections, formations and tactics.

Possibly. We'll improve though, and let's be honest, we created plenty of chances against Wolves and bar a worldy performance from the Leeds keeper....
The goals scored column could/should be a bit better, not by much, but maybe a bit.

You're all assuming he's going to regularly get a game. The pessimist in me says he'll be used as a sub

For fucks sake he's only just signed not kicked a ball and loads either writing him off or saying he'll be sub, you DON'T pay 23.5m for a sub.

ahahah sub my arse-

CW has realised McFlatfoot and his over weight Moose are not going to save us, Brewster is literally the last throw of the dice, of course he will start. Touch wood it works.

The same mob who said what we f#cking about at, just pay the money!

Don’t think people are writing him off, think they’re just saying if he’s not getting service how will he score goals. We’re playing frustratingly negative tactics, I like sander Berge but paying £20mil for a defensive midfielder rang alarm bells to me at the time, surely we need a more direct attack minded midfield that will creat chances for our strikers. I’m concerned a new striker no matter how good won’t solve our problems.

Part of me does think we might have made a bit of a balls up this season by not changing to a more attacking formation - like how we used to play with a number 10, for example.

As last season went along we became slowly more defensive and reliant upon our defence to keep clean sheets. This formation can be attacking if we want it to be but there has been a definite change of mindset since our purple patch last October through to December.

There are very few defensive teams in the league at the moment and I think our approach suddenly looks a little out of step with the attacking nature of the league. I appreciate we don't have the players to go toe-to-toe with a lot of teams but we've gone too far the other way IMO.

I should add, however, that I don't think this means we'll be relegated this year. Regardless of tactics and formation we have been on the receiving end of some terrible decisions that have arguably cost us a few points already.

We're missing JoC - big time. His (and Basham's) overlapping centre-back role has been vital to our success.

If we can get back to the attacking, pressing and passing game of last season, Brewster will score.

We are cereatinly not playing the way we played last season before lockdown
There are probably 2 or 3 reasons for this
There are too many players that are not playing at the top of their game as they were last season
I think the missing crowd is also a reason, I know its the same for all clubs but I do think United suffer more than most
The loss of JOC and Moose to injury (we were lucky last season with injuries)
Wilder seems to have gone for a more negative style this season, is this because of our bad start as last season we were going toe to toe with the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Man Ure and to some extent Man City we seem inacapable of doing that these days, is it that teams have sussed us out
