It hasn't. You've done your dead-hand best but it hasn't.

There'll be over 25,000 pretty euphoric Blades at the Lane on Saturday. The vast majority of them don't subject themselves to anti-SUFC bollocks on message boards and are more enthused and excited than for many years.

Yeah ok pal
We've invested heavily in proven quality

Whatever you say

I didn't say that at all.

My simple point is that those, like you, who actively set out (for some perverse reason) to dampen enthusiasm for the club you claim to support, have signally failed. The "euphoria" as you put it is still there, as you will observe on Saturday if you are sufficiently enthused to attend yourself.

Another one adept at "investing" other people's money, I note. Send them a grand of your own with an invitation attached "Have a punt. Splash this".

It will be pretty tight and a tad nervous at times. Not sure how Brentford 's preseason has gone or whether they have invested much, but that means nothing these days as far as I'm going. Can't really remember a team that really managed to buy their way out of this league, though many have tried, us included! Certainly around 1-1, but think we will nick it or even 3-1 depending on whether Brooks and Clarke get in on the act late on.

2-1 blades. Carruthers and sharp pen. What ever happens the atmosphere will be fantastic and Wilder will have them fired up.

United will start the season off like a 'Speeding Train', and the 24,300 will be roaring them on!

I'm going for rousing 3-1 WIN!

Blades 2-1. A cup atmosphere with both sides having plenty of attacks, but the blades boisterous support causes the Bee's to crumble under the pressure. The blades fans leave with belief they can handle the division and will have a fantastic season.

Middlesborough 5-0 Blades.

Narrow defeat and maybe a slow start to the season. Stick with it we'll adjust and have a pretty average season. (Which I think most would settle for).

Blades 1 Brentford 2

I had a dream we drew 2-2 away at Peterborough in the first game of the new Championship season.

Peterborough 2 - 2 Blades

Going for a 1-1 and would be ecstatic with a draw on the return back to the championship.

Just don't want a start before we're we are trying to pick up our first point.

Don't cause traffic jams by dithering on that parapet.

JUMP man, FFS JUMP!
Bizarrely the only game I ever missed through traffic whilst living down south was a home against Rotherham, all due to someone threatening to throw emselves off the bridge at Leicester Forest.

At 11.50 I was about a mile short of junction 21 just before the services.

At 6.00 I was coming off at junction 21, going right round the roundabout and heading home again to arrive at exactly my normal match day time.

What a waste of a day.

From a mile back, could you see if he had a United shirt on and was holding a 'Death to McCabe' banner?

There was a bend or two in the road

Couldn't even see the bloody services never mind the pillock spoiling everyone's day.

It's a tricky one to predict, you know the cliche 'anything could happen", well in this game I can imagine virtually every scoreline from a big win to a big defeat, score draw is probably the sensible prediction.

However if push comes to shove then I'll predict what Jehovah said.
It would be typical United, start with an impressive win against a playoff candidate.
Some Blades go over board thinking we might have a great season then we follow it up with a big 0-5 defeat against Boro live on telly.
Back down to earth with an almighty bump ha ha.

Blades 2-2 Brentford

Sharp 21', Lavery 73' ............... Vibe 42', Jota 80'

Can't see anything other than quite an attacking, end to end game.

A draw wouldn't be bad but we could do with a win before going to Boro and Cardiff.

Before the fixtures were announced I had a dream we beat Brentford 2-0 at the Lane on the opening day, with Basham sent off. I'm sticking with that.

Spooky. I had one last season a few nights before Oxford home game, that we came from behind to get our first win. Not had any specific football dreams yet this season, just the usual weird shit like giving someone a ginger haired Action Man for a birthday present.

I'm too nervous to make a prediction.

2-2, supersub Brooks to level things up in the final 10!!

2-1 Brooksey to get the winner after he comes on for Carruthers, Stevens to be MOM

Normally cagey affairs these first games of the season. Not many goals.

However, I think this has the recipe for a classic. I reckon 3-2.....With big J O'C getting the winner.

Two teams with great attacking ability, both have questionable defenses.

That means it's nailed on to finish 0-0.

Think it'll be a very exciting open game of football with goals. A point would be a good result but i'm feeling optimistic so i'll go with a 3-2 United win. Billy to snatch a late winner after we come back from behind twice. Coyraww

..... And this week's winner is ..... BLADE and SNUFF !

Not only were they the only ones with the correct score line, they brilliantly predicted the nail biting last 20 mins.

Give yourselves 3 points, 1 for the correct overall result and 2 more for the actual score.

Anyone who forecast the home win can have 1 - Keep a record and let us have your total at the end of the season ( unless some kindly soul , a bit in the Roy mould, would like to manage it ? )

Middlesbrough anyone ? I'm sticking with 1 - 1.

That turned out spookily quite accurate as did my Oxford one. Had one last night that we won our first game back in the PL 1-0 away with a very late goal but it was at Arsenal not Bournemouth.
