I've got to say, the attitude towards him on here, and the way Wilder has dealt with him, has not looked good for the young man.

Tonight he's getting criticism when he, a holding midfielder, is being brought on to a game that is already over and is somehow being expected to turn the game on its head.
Against Newcastle he was took off, despite being the best midfielder in red and white, admittedly it was not too difficult, whilst Norwood playing in Berge's position could not pass the ball 3 yards.

Wilder hasn't helped the lad either. Subbing him off when he's having a better game in a position he does not play, than the guy having a stinker in the position he wants to play, is not going to do his confidence any favors.
Then despite being better than Norwood in that game, he's left to watch Norwood and the team go 2-0 down, game over, and then he's finally allowed to play 45 minute, almost like some kind of punishment.

"Slow", "Unfit", "Lightweight" etc etc.

Believe it or not, 75%+ of all foreign signings look like that stepping into this league.
Destroying his confidence is not going to make him perform any better.
Sorry but 90% of that is utter guff. No matter the price tag ,the basic expectation of someone is to show some desire and bravery ,with the price tag the expectation is ability. His arrival may have coincidentally coincided with a drop in form for the team but he has shown absolutely none of the 3 attributes and to say he has been the better performer or unlucky to be subbed is just garbage. There is no way he can get anyway near -lundstram-Norwood-Fleck at the moment ,Besic would have been a better bet. Dont know what your attachment is with him but he is miles away from what we expect.

As for this paragraph ,is that serious ? its not under 11s on Herdings park. Good grief.

I've seen it all before at Leicester.

When Nugent and Knockaert played such a pivotal role in getting us promoted, it was difficult for Leicester fans to accept they would not be good enough in the Premier League, it's the same for yourselves with Sharp/Mcgoldrick.
I'm sure people are even thinking now with that bias, Sharp/Didzy are way better than Nugent/Knockaert, I don't even have an opinion on that matter, it's irrelevant, all 4 are Championship standard players.

If you're just going to discard all the signings you make every summer, it will not be long until the whole squad are once again playing in the Championship.

You aren't going to get the money back from either Mcburnie/Berge at this moment in time, from what i'm being told on here the budget in the summer is likely to be smaller not larger, so what is your answer?

Wilder has got to look to develop Mcburnie/Berge, and, in my opinion, they are both far more likely to be better at this level than those in the squad in the same positions.

Does being a Leicester fan make you an authority on Sheffield united then ? Why are you so interested , I dont give a shit about Nugent ,you dont know enough about Sharp or Mcgoldrick ,so how you know so much about Berge and our other players you slag off god knows.

I think the plan is to make Berge and McBurnie better players. That said Didsy is still a creative force, you can see a difference in how we play when he features in the team. Sharp is a goal poacher who may no longer be a regular starter but effective in front of goal and has purple patches still even at his age.

Will Sharp and Didsy be the main front two for us forever? no and not likely to be at their age either. Will they be back up for what we have? yes.

We live in a world where everyone looks for excuses.

Maybe he’s just not that good.

Maybe John Fleck, Enda Stevens, John Egan, Olly Norwood and John Lundstram have all lost it too and simply aren't good enough.

Did they check down the back of the sofa? If I lose something it is usually down there.

New TV show

Breaking Berge
I thought that, a demerit for the thread poster for not coming up with that as the title. At that point we could all have a chuckle and the tension has gone, as it is here we are knife fights, Mexican stand offs, drug deals gone wrong and people chained up in showers being tortured.

The thing is, I know you will take offence if I suddenly claimed that your opinion is irrelevant on Premier League football compared to mine, but find it acceptable to claim I don't know anything about Championship players.
I've been there watching my side in the depths of league 1, those horrible trips away to Yeovil and the likes, wondering where it has all gone wrong, whilst also wondering how the hell any of it can be put right.

I take it that you aren't away that we tried to sign both Mcgoldrick and Sharp in the last decade?
Ipswich pulled the plug on selling Mcgoldrick last minute and Doncaster offered Sharp a wage we didn't want to match even after they accepted a fee from us.
They have both been good championship players, but that is their limit, and given their age, it's crazy to contemplate keeping them over Mcburnie.

I remember my last trip to the away end at Bramall Lane before this season was when Mattock played for you (Ex Leicester), and he had a serious injury, I think a leg break, and we were still hurling abuse at him whilst receiving oxygen because of some stuff he had done off the field whilst with us. You battered us and we fluked a 1-0.
I'm not some fan who doesn't understand how difficult the league 1 to Premier League transition is.
I don't know if you're aware, but i've also mentioned previous about having a season ticket at your place during Wilder's first season in the Championship, also been to the Burnley and Man City game this season.....I don't confess to being some expert on 'your club', but I have more than a casual interest.

I haven't slagged off any of your players really, and definitely not Berge.
So accusing me of that is strange.

The way to put it right for Leicester was to cheat as I recall.
You slagged our players off and our manager....'really' (thats the clue)
So your insight into McGoldrick and Sharp as you slag them off again ,really ,is that they nearly signed for Leicester ,cool story.
Oh and Vardy is a wanker...really . No he really is a wanker.

What I feel a lot of blades don't realise or appreciate is individually very few of our players are genuinely premier league standard. And even fewer top 10, and by that I mean comfortably get into first 11 of other teams similarly placed squads

JOC
Henderson
Fleck (on form)
Egan?

I'd only class the above as premier league class.

No disrespect to any players I'm convinced outside of this team a handful would tumble down the leagues outside of this squad.

We are successful because we play well well beyond the sum of our parts. We have a manager who get the most out of every player both individually and more importantly through a system where everyone understands their role and the roles of others

It's because of this that more often than not new signings haven't exploded onto the scene and hit the ground running, or even struggled to get into the team

Will the likes of Berge, Mcburnie come good? Only time will tell. But they will only come good if they bed into the team and our system, which inevitably takes time.

Leicester city foreign signings since promotion.

Andrej Kramaric, Estaban Cambiasso, Shinki Okazaki, N'golo Kante, Gokhan Inler, Yohan Benalouane, Daniel Amartey, Christian Fuchs, Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa, Wilfried Ndidi, Nampalys Mendy, Bartosz Kaputska, Ron-Robert Zieler, Molla Wague, Luis Hernandez, Adrien Silva, Vicente Iborra, Aleksander Dragovic, Fousseni Diabate, Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, Filip Benkovic, Rachid Gezzal, Youri Tielemans, Dennis Praet.

Only 4 of 26 hit the ground running and didn't need a minimum, of 6 months to adapt.

(Kante, Cambiasso, Fuchs, Tielemans).

16 of the 26 never came close to making it.

Bartosz Kaputska

Is he available,he would fit in well and be an instant hit in the current Corona league.

Who was that player that Wilder brought in from Wolves, did'nt really fit in and was sold on at a profit to Wigan, can see that happening with Berge.

Lee Evans, scored one cracker and not much else.

Anyway, sorry to go on, I need to shut up and let CentralQuay tell us about him and so much else. He knows lots about lots of things, he keeps telling us, with a lack of self awareness rarely seen on here.

You really need to read more of my posts, everyone but this one has been full of praise for Wilder.

Your bias is clearly too strong to have a reasonable conversation.
If you believe that Wilder is immune to mistakes then i'm not sure the point in continuing our debate. SAF, Guardiola, Wenger etc made many over their careers.

I'm defending Mcburnie and Berge.
You're defending Sharp and Mcgoldrick.

So, please, tell me how i'm 'slagging off' your players, when my position is no different to yours.

Your defence of him is admirable. The whole team have been shocking since we come back but they have plenty of good performances behind them and have a lot of credit in the bank.

I knew they'd be excuses tonight- hard for him to come into the game - chasing the game. I called it with my mate. I said get ready for the excuses if he does nothing again.

He came on in this position that loads are saying is his natural position and saw no different to when he has played in the other role. Two 5 yard passes is not cutting it. Did not engage, did not impose himself or get on the ball. I watched him carefully and he was hiding too - did not even come off square.

There were no positives out of tonight at all from the whole team. Things are a lot deeper than Berge but he was not showing anything before the lockdown.

I hoped 2nd half he would come on and show something in 'his' position and we would have something out of a sorry night. Anything. He did nothing. Again. The excuses for him are running out for me. In terms of destroying his confidence; he has to take some responsibility and man up a bit. If he cant get involved in games or show some presence then he is not going to be in the Premier League very long. Norwood has been abysmal since the restart but I'd still pick him ahead of Berge. That is how little he has done to warrant a place.

I come he comes good but even Lundstram or Coutts in the early says showed some flashes amongst poor performances. This lad has shown nothing to me. It's not scapegoating. It's just seeing what I see with my own eyes.
I think with all due respect your writing and reporting could be improved. Maybe you do your best with what you have. I imagine it isn't much different for footballers. After all it's not a one man game so each individual action affects the next.
Funny how we expect generously paid people to perform when in Berge's case, I think Wilder bought potential, which means he will need time and patience. The same patience I exercise trying to read your reports without being tempted to crticise them.
Like Berge, they need some work it might be argued..
I think you're being unfair saying he's shown nothing. Wilder seems to think differently and as we are well aware,he doesn't "Spunk our moneh"
Perspective eh.😉 No offence pal. You bring joy to lot's of blades.

If you buy someone for their potential, their name isn't first on the team sheet every game (slight exageration). He was bought to come in and strengthen a midfield that already had Norwood and Fleck firing on all cylinders AND potential for the future. So far, we're left with only the latter, which means he needs to be dropped to the bench until that potential starts to turn into actual contribution.

I understand what you're trying to say, but usually when people say "premier league class" they mean the "big 6". The likes of Crystal Palace, Southampton, West Ham, etc. are also Premier League and a lot of our first team players would do fine in other PL teams. You don't need some kind of alien gene to be a PL player and most of our regular first team have proved themselves enough to be snapped up by another PL team if they became available - and I think they would do just fine elsewhere.

Don't understand why your all arguing, he will be gone as soon as CW can get a decent part of his transfer fee back. Carruthers, Lenoard, Holmes ect were exactly the same type of signings even though much cheaper but also didn't deliver and were quickly moved on. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see McB , Moose, Robinson ect follow him, CW ain't daft.
