Was it £500k? Is that what Wikipedia tell you?

An you act like this is wonderfully planned. Up until the first 15 minutes of Tuesday's game we'd still be playing George Long tomorrow.

So what happened to the £1.x million for Adams?

As I've said before, why don't you wait until the end of the window before you start your one man "let's slag off United" campaign? Wilder said today he wanted competition for Long before now which blows your theory to pieces. So how about acknowledging us spending good money (payment structured 500k according to the Star) on a keeper for a league 1 club? No chance of that eh

Can't we just just sell him, he hasn't been the same of his first spell.

So another actual footballer gets bombed out of the Club by the pitch-narrowing, half-time watering-the-pitch merchant.

Come on Kieron, get your foot through it, we're playing percentages!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFF
I wonder if, should times get tough, David Bassett can be hired again to "answer the phone."
Well it worked for Micky Adams.
And Wilder is using Bassett tactics 30 years behind the times. Why? Is Dave around somewhere?

I agree fully let's see who we've sold at the end of the window and look at the replavements. Then if we have added more quality.

I am really disappointed that Brayford has gone. Adams I could tolerate, Long having competition is ok but Brayford? Who have we got thats better and as weve just paid half a million for Moore, where is the money coming from for a BETTER QUALITY replacement?
Since when (& Im going back to 67/68) did we ever replace anyone who was deemed of "BETTER QUALITY". Feeling well pissed off tonight - not just the Brayford episode, (although that's kind of like the icing 'off' the cake for me). its just the whole ethos of the club right now & of the last few years.

So far losing Che is the only downside. Sadly Brayfords been so poor we won't miss him. Moore must surely give our defence more confidence than Long whose own looks shot to pieces

One man? What? you got everyone else on block?

I'll wait until the end of the window. Like I did last year. And the year before that. And so on.

Buying one goalkeeper in light of two disastrous games for George Long doesn't fill me with confidence. It seems like shit-pants panic buying. If the penalty of this is to eventually lose a £1.2m defender for £250k+ £240k (and we still haven't had anything official from the club) then I'd say its fucking shit trade. You fail badly to tell me what the fuck has happened to the Adams money as well.

So, no. No chance of acknowledging spending 'good money'. Your 'good money' statement has no 'good money' in it.

But you haven't waited to slag them off before the end of the window have you? 2 disastrous games? Panic buying? Have you regularly watched George? No of course not. Do you know it was a panic buy? No of course not. Where's the Adams money gone? Some on Moore and as said, the window hasn't closed yet. Thought you were waiting before slagging them? No of course not

Why, do I have to? The goalkeeper acquisition is desperately need, but let's face it, since George dropped a series of bollocks last season, you could have stuck your house on the requirement being there. So we are 'reducing the wagebill' by offing jetsam, why wasn't this purchase made in early August, when needed, rather than now when GL is provenly pony? I don't have to 'regularly watch George Long' to know that he is bleeding confidence, both in himself, and in his newly formed defence which he can't seem to marshal as a goalkeeper should do.

I await some quality purchases in the next two weeks, spongebob, or you'll be obviously on here to explain (or excuse) why of course.

I can be as critical as anyone within reason. I just prefer to give them while the deadline to bring players in then give them time to gel. I prefer to keep it realistic but some on here jump in far too quickly. We are all frustrated

Can't we just just sell him, he hasn't been the same of his first spell.

Seriously doubt anyone would pay a decent fee for him on current form. May as well send him to Clough who maybe can get him back up to speed (if anyone can).
He then comes back either, up for it and raring to go again or ready to be sold at a higher price than we would get now.

Win win as far as I am concerned.

and on current form

Read this, shook my head, let's look to the long term and ditch each player that loses form (and for many then to take the opportunity to indulge in petty abuse of a player who was so popular here. :()

So following on this logic every one that has a dip in form will be gone.

Pity wilder wasn't our manager last year

Then this, a bit of reason. An oasis in a desert of nonsense. :)

Brayford has not been playing well so far this season, but getting shut of the family silver, and we've been doing it since 1967 with Mick Jones and Alan Birchenall, has brought nothing but abject failure, especially over the last 40 years. Until the club start punching their weight and start acting like a proper club, building a team around the better players, then we're just going to get a repeat of the last 4 or 5 decades ie under achieving losers.

Even within the Brayford deal, why haven't they got the very best for SUFC, played hard ball and made sure McFadzean was part of the deal coming into the Lane; something along the lines of you want Brayford, you can only have him if McFadzean is coming in the opposite direction or no deal.
Because Burton wouldn't have done that deal, and we'd be mad to let it collapse because of that?

When you fact in rank mental fragility, Brayford just isn't very good.

Brayford undoubtedly was amazing 1st spell absolute force of nature. But as old adage says never go back. As return usually disappointment like Jose at Chelsea, Beattie & Bent at Blades. Balotelli in English football. You normally run a great risk of ruining reputation (Only 2 i can think were its worked Howe at Bournemouth & Henry at Arsenal) & he had been poor for a while

But brayford goes with my best wishes. Just Like any of that team that took us within 45mins of an fa cup final because just like the squads of 02/03 & 05/06 will always have a special place

What proportion of Brayford's 2 years here weren't a "dip in form' , and how much of the £3,000,000 he's cost us do you think he's actually earned?

This has been the mother of all "dips" :)

Do you sell your house unless you've bought a new one to move in to?
I made that mistake and I am currently posting this message from under Dronfield bypass before I turn in. Hoping to get keys to hinchcliffes old gaff next week.

I think the situation we are in as even shocked Wilder to the core . Bit like Woy with England , never saw it coming .
The changes to the squad and already having no backbone to the spine of the team , has highlighted that players even brought in by Wilder are not cutting the mustard .

Love Brayford , but the business done today has been good necessary business .

Just hope that we show some character tommorow , Moore has a great game and we build again.

It is sink or swim , shit or bust time . The positives are that we are only 3 games in.

The Micky Adams situation to me was completely different to this one .

Wilder has carried out what's necessary and both Done and Basham also require moving on , as with the already transfer listed lot .

McCabe to me will back Wilder to the hilt . If not and the bloke gets the boot or walks , where do we go from here .

A poison chalase which Wilder for the sake of the club , needs to get control of . Get some points on the board and the mojo will be back . In the overall scheme of things we will get there .

If he's signed the contract for the house with that extra c in the name he's had your pants down.

Love Brayford , but the business done today has been good necessary business . Necessary but not good letting a £2m player go for nothing and then paying a percentage of his wages

Just hope that we show some character tommorow , Moore has a great game and we build again. I have a feeling Moore will certainly be busy, hope his back holds up.

Getting rid of Brayford permanently for a small fee (500k) - yes
Loaning him out but not using his wages saved for signing - no
Having no replacement - no
Playing the transfer listed waster instead (booze club) with no back-up should he get injured - no

Kev basically admitting our club is fucked and going to get relegated - priceless.
