John Brayford played 45 minutes as planned this afternoon that's great news also Diego back with a bang
Scored 2 coming on as a sub that is also good news keep it up Diego.
Very good news, here's the report for anyone interested.

A brace from substitute Diego De Girolamo helped United's U21s make it five wins from the last six matches in all competitions, with a comfortable victory over Coventry City on Monday afternoon.

The returning striker netted twice in the second-half after CJ Hamilton had fired the Blades in front in the first-half at the Look Local Stadium, as John Brayford completed 45 minutes on his latest comeback from a serious knee injury.

The Blades started brightly and hit the woodwork within the two minutes, Heh drove down the right flank before cutting inside and firing a low effort against the post.

City then responded with a chance of their own, as Elford-Alliyu scooped the ball over the bar from close range after Shipley had headed down Kelly-Evans's cross from the right.

Thomas and Elford-Alliyu both had half chances for the Sky Blues, prior to the Blades took the lead in the 39th minute. HAMILTON showed pace and power to burst down the right flank before cutting and placing the ball past the outstretched arm of Burge.

Haynes was booked for a late lunge on the goalscorer, as Coventry wasted a chance to level with the last action of the first period, Thomas firing over the bar from a promising position.

The second-half saw the home side immediately on the front foot and Banton headed narrowly wide, before Coustrain saw his shot blocked by Maycock.

Elford-Alliyu headed wide from Stevenson's centre for the visitors and that miss was punished in the 69th minute as substitute DE GIROLAMO tapped home from Wright's cross after a defensive slip just minutes after being introduced.

United were now in complete command and Hamilton was only denied his second by an excellent save from Burge, but DE GIROLAMO got his second and the Blades third moments later to make the game safe.

Blades: Ramsdale, Brayford (Cobain 45), Phillips, Dimaio, Banton, Whiteman, Coustrain, Brooks (Evans 86), Wright, Heh (De Girolamo 64), Hamilton.
Unused: Perryman, Gilmour.

Give Banton a go in the squad Nigel.
I thought he was out on loan to be honest.

I'm worried we're pinning too many hopes on brayford returning

the guy's got a beard but he aint jesus
I don't think it's a case of pinning too many hopes on him Gbb, it's more a case of looking for something positive, something to kick us on...... Ok, i'm looking to pin everything on him then :)

He gives us width.
He gives our wingers confidence and an overlapping option which in turn gives them more space.
Unfortunately I can see Nigel putting him at centre half. He's probably better than anyone else there, but it's still a waste. I don't think it'll fix all the problems him coming back but it's a massive boost.
We've options up top now(we've sent last years top goalscorer out on loan!).
If Wallace stays fit now we now have some strong(on paper) players to choose from.
Now Brayford is almost fit we could have brand new back four.
.....now for the keeper, we NEED a keeper! It'd be less of a waste of his talents if we played the beard there!

Your supposed to make caustic comment every time Diego's name is mentioned Finlay.

Good news that Brayford is coming back especially if he is the Brayford from the loan spell here.

Even then it's asking a lot to fire us up the League from full back.

I have always been an admirer of Diego s ability my issue has been with his attitude, nothing would please me more than Diego being in our team and scoring for fun, just hope that nige 2 has worked the Oracle with him as nige 1 obviously tackled it badly.Maybe Nigel 2s training in sports psychology is showing through ,anyway keep it going Diego.

Agreed. He's a right back and we've been fairly well served in that position by Freeman this season.

It's not the return of a dynamic goalscoring midfielder.

I think his character and affection for the club will have a wider positive impact throughout the club. But he's not going to single-handedly lead us to promotion.

I'd be very suprised if anyone was dumb enough to seriously think this was going to happen.

Freeman has done ok in his position this season and i like him but he isn't in the same League as Brayford.
How do you think he played last season?

I thought he was well below an acceptable level considering the fee we payed for him.

Nothing to suggest he isn't going to continue in that trend, or get worse, which is more probable given his absence with injury.

I agree and at the time i said we didn't need to spend the amount we did on a RB when we needed other areas strengthening. On both their days though their really isn't a contest.

Nice write up Wiz, cheers mate.

We have some genuinely good footballers in our youth ranks, if Jake Wright can add half a stone (to bulk up) he will be a goal scoring hero at BDTBL.

I wish i could take credit for the write up mate but it was copy and pasted off my Blades app. Oh fuck it, I'll take it :)

I hope so, and I hope fans don't turn on him if he doesn't have an immediate impact, but I reckon they will. Quite a few around me were giving him stick last season right from his first game after he signed, which was when we beat Swindon. Ridiculous. He was never going to hit the ground immediately in the same vein of form as in his loan spell.

He didn’t have the same impact as the season before. He wasn’t bombing forward successfully. I think, in part that’s because we didn’t have a settled team and he couldn’t work on his partnership with Flynn as he was out. Still, he was solid defensively and always put in a shift and improved us at centre half when we needed him to play there. He and JCR didn’t seem to compliment each other down the right though which I think is part of the reason JCR was loaned out. Even in that form though, he offered us plenty and if he can get and stay fit, will be a bonus for us.

will up us 20% in organisation
and Vauxhall Cuvalier returning will offer some competition
I will be shocked if the Laughing Cavalier ever plays more than two consecutive games for our first team. In fact, I wouldn't recognise him if he walked into my flat now and shat on my carpet.
