Winger, young and highly rated. Heard something about him coming from Man City on loan
Has anyones neighbour heard owt?

Chris Taylor at Blackburn was the intended target but it's fallen at the second hurdle.

Not sure on reliability, I know the Chris Taylor stuff for definite (itk) but the Barker thing was just a whisper

I don't know owt about him, but it's a weird one for someone to make up
 
Can't say I've heard of him but looks like a cracking prospect. I've cut & paste the below after he played 76mins in a friendly for the first team.

He's also won players acadamy player of then year 13/14.

He could be the perfect replacement for Murphy. Him and Adams out wide would scare the shit out of teams

Barker got a 76 minute run out here and was immediately given a congratulatory handshake by Brian Kidd as he settled on the bench. A frequent scorer in the Academy ranks – Patrick Vieira has described him as 'a proper talent' – it will be intriguing to see how many chances he gets.

Quick, direct, and a great strike on him, hope there is something in the Barker rumour, a target for Leeds earlier in the summer.
Seen him live a few times, and he has always impressed.

Chris Taylor's the annoying ginger twit who played for Oldham right?

Decent player, and was always their best, but never 'OMG we should sign him right now' good in my opinion.

Based on the two clips in this thread, Barker looks an immense talent. No doubt City will handle him with kid gloves, but for how long before he's given an opportunity at first team level it's difficult to predict. There's an enormous leap between his current level and playing in the prem, but based on what I've seen he looks a great talent. Great control, strong, and because of his ability to go straight to the opposition's jugular he attracts defenders and thus frees up a few of his own players.

If we could get him on loan he'd become a shoe-in, but I can't see why City would allow Barker to sign for a Division 1 side.

Think it's as good as dead anyway. They haven't got enough bodies to let anyone go.

I'm not ITK on anything before anyone says anything, literally just this Taylor thing. I know someone who knows someone.
Was asked about Barker by someone at work to see if I'd heard anything - i answered no funnily enough!

Why wouldn't they let him sign for us? We are one of the front runners in the league but most of all both Sheffield United Football Club and Nigel Adkins have top reputations in the development of young players.

I actually thought this was a none story but then it dawned on me that Adkins recently spent some time up at Man City's academy looking around and learning about the set up that they had. He might have forged some decent links up there and stuff in the process? You never know do you.

I hope you're right. I made my assumption on the fact that a talent that good would only be allowed to sign for a Championship side, rather than a Div 1 team. It's the same logic that has prevented us loaning Prem players so far. Promotion will overcome that hurdle. But as I say, I hope you're correct and Adkins manages to get the deal done. It would be a great signing and the lad would excite our supporters no end.
 
Echo the sentiments above, what a talent he looks. I think a season at this level in a winning team (not too far from Manchester) would do him the world of good, especially with the open style of football we're playing. I suspect, however, that the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Preston... would be in front of us in the queue for this one.

Adkins again is a very astute guy . He will have known that when he got back in to management , having a relationship with MCFC , would help him in the future . SUFC are now playing a attacking brand of football , therefore IMO , there is no reason that any club would not let a young up and coming player , come to BDTBL on loan . League 1 is not a kick the shit out of players league any more . SUFC would help the development of any young player under the Adkins regime . Not as daft as it sounds this one.

WOW!!
I'm a sucker for a highlight reel but that kid looks like the real awesome. He looks capable or ripping up the premiership let alone league 1.
I've read all the rumours and only the Hooper and Turner ones have got me excited, until now.
I'll chip in for his wages if they want?

Think you're right Oreyt, if you haven't watched the clip(s) it's worth a look. I know there's a huge gap between his current level and being a top professional, but he does have a special talent, plus he looks difficult to budge off the ball, so all in a good prospect.
