Bradford fans view on James Hanson

My worries are:

“what better way to scupper the blades title charge than to give them hanson.
we will venture to the blades forum in a months time and they will all be wondering why billy sharp cannot read his flick ons”

and

“James Hanson has been great for Bradford but he seems to be injured more often than not nowadays.”

but a clean slate for me if he comes. I can see his potential impact from the bench I just can't see how it works for 90 minutes.

He is what he is. Anybody expecting Cruyff turns and 30 yard volleys is going to be dissapointed.

With the amount of balls we get in and around the 6 yard box which get swallowed up by centre halves I can fully understand why Wilder has gone for somebody of his type.

The comments say to me that he was a very good player (as we have seen) up to recently and this season ,coinciding with Stuart McCall taking over. If he doesn't fit into the way McCall plays that would answer why has been disappointing this season. We have better players and are more flexible than Bradford , he will be a massive asset to us you watch.

New surroundings and a new manager could just be the tonic for James Hanson's career. I'm sure he's aware of the negative forum comments at Bradford while he was there so moving to a local rival who happen to be streets ahead of his old he's going to want to impress that's for sure.

I believe in Wilders judgement and if he thinks he's the right player alongside Sharpe then I'll support him 100%.

Agree entirely ,but Im only going on my own view of him. I reckon Ive seen him 15 times and at least 10 of those times he has been man of the match ,he wins a ridiculous amount of headers. Even this season when they didn't play to his strengths he was a real handful and they got 3 against us.

True, he's the type of player who has the capability of bullying defenders and not someone you'd have the pleasure in marking and defending. He may not be the lavish out of favour premier league player some were hoping to bring in but for this league and a foil for Billy Sharpe you have to say this signing could be the perfect partnership to get us over the line and out of this awful league.

“To be fair we’re constantly told opposition managers are worried about him pre-match and rave about him post-match.”

Maybe he is one of those that does a lot of unseen work?

Personally I can't wait to watch Done and Hanson's partnership up front from Tuesday.

Well he's here now so lets see, not my cup of tea but Wilder obviously thinks he can add value to the squad. My main worry is if we go up players like Hanson are not going to be good enough, Wilder says we aren't in the market for £1m players which surprises me a little, thought our wealthy owners would have the foresight to invest bigger in a top of the table side looking to play in the Championship next season.

We lack a bit of nastiness and a big presence up front.

When defences are tiring at the end of matches, he'll be a great option to bring on from the bench.

And it'll be nice for him to play for a big club.

It's all about options isn't it. Means we can mix it up a bit with someone different to Sharp/Lavery/Done. Seems clear that CW has realised Clarke hasn't worked out. Be interesting to see if he leaves during the window.

Billy's best partnership by a long way was with Andy Keogh at Scunny.

You're incorrect.

Our wealthy owners have ensured we are always amongst the biggest budget in league 1 and always have a contingency extra budget to bring in further additions to get promoted.

Agree Hanson probably isn't Championship standard but we've previously brought in players with Championship pedigree and it's backfired.

It would be utter madness to spend next years budget this season. Why gamble our future on this season?

So let's concentrate on crossing the line for promotion first. Then worry about the Championship hopefully in April.

OK that's me told.

I'd say the Bradford's reaction is similar to our fans with regards to the traditional target man, either appreciated by some for what they bring to the team and forward line, or hysterical over re-action for the simple reason they don't like target men type forwards (they were/are probably bullied on the football field themselves by the big lads).

Good signing imo, he needs to get off to a flyer mind before the we-hate-target men brigade build up a head of steam.

Blimey Sheff, could not agree more... people worrying that we are not signing "Championship" players?? We don't need them!! We need players to get us out of this division!!

I know I am repeating what you said, but your point merits such.
