Only 3 teams have ever survived relegation after being in 20th position at Christmas. Sunderland, West Brom and Leicester. So i think we can safely say we're down, and now it's about not having an absolutely atrocious points tally come May.

Here’s me thinking that we’d beat Brighton then go on to beat Everton and Burnley so we would have ten points and not be bottom at the end of the year.
And I’m one of those glass half empty people !

Think brighton was a good start .would have loved a win but happy point.could have been none my glass is half full

It’s the hope that kills you mate

It's the hope that gets you.

Logic tells me though that even if a ridiculously low total of 30 points was enough to keep you up, this team has very little chance of getting near that.

We already need to average 1 point per game plus, to stand any chance, and have 2 points from 14 so far.

I don't look at this squad and the players available being capable of that type of turnaround.

I'd convinced myself for weeks that Man Utd would be our first win and then if we could get results against Brighton and Burnley, things would look very different.

I fully expect to lose to Everton and if we lose to Burnley then the harsh reality is about doing everything we can, on and off the pitch, to prepare for the Champ next season.

So despite stating that it isn't certain that we will be relegated, you are then saying that it is certain?

Don't give up yet old chap. We were on 4 points after 16 games in the 90/91 season, and we got out of that, quite comfortably too.

But in terms of games played, it's not Christmas yet. In a normal season, Christmas is after 18 or 19 games. We've played 14.

Therefore if you want to use Christmas as a barometer, that is after the Newcastle or Spurs game (12th/17th January 2021)

I don't think stats for ordinary seasons apply anymore given current circumstances

I think a lot of people have accepted we’re as good as down a few games ago if we’re not in touching distance by end of Jan then it’s bleak next few games pivotal to have any glimmer IMO

We've been bottom at Christmas and stayed up before, just not in the Premier League era.

We won't this season, obviously, because we're absolute garbage, but we have.

No shit Sherlock.......Now give us the good news.

Think if we don't beat Palace and Burnley then I think that's it for sure.

It'd be miraculous if we stayed up without those 6 points going into the new year.

As we are already relegated I think we should play backup players and youngsters to conserve the energy of the first team for next seasons promotion...

United riding high, nearing end of the season, long way off relegation.

Blades: We're not mathematically safe yet.

United struggling, lot of games to play, performances picking up but 10 points off safety.

Blades: We're already relegated.

We are overlooking the fact that this season started later than usual?

On April 3rd 2015 Leicester were rock bottom of the premier league with 19 points after 29 games sporting a minus 21 goal difference. They went on a winning run and finished 14th, six points clear of relegation. Sheffield United showed last season that they are more than capable of winning & I think they can put a winning run together. Not saying they can survive but it ain't over yet.

It’s them that’s shit on the carpet, they need to have their collective nose’s rubbed in their mess. They also need to rediscover the ability to play football again.
