Just been reading up on the Preston and Forest forums to try and gauge what them lot thought of our match last night and how they fancy their chances against us at the lane and it seems they were slightly underwhelmed by us or more precisely we were "dire" according to them, fans of both teams are excited about hopefully winning and coming to the lane because they see us as an easy ticket to the quarter finals.

Were we really that bad? From the stands I would say we were far from prolific but at the very least we were very well set up and organized and overall we were more than value for our win.

I think if we get Preston we'll lose as it will be too much like a league match. Forest on the other hand I think we'll win - Clough against his old team and all that.

Good, Id much rather have us as the underdog.

I thought we were good but Id imagine it was a dire game to watch as a neutral.

The effort was fantastic - we were rarely troubled and I thought we deserved to win. And of course the result was everything. But even as a Blade you could see that overall the game was poor and devoid of much quality - and that for a neutral it must have been difficult viewing. I think that Fulham as the premiership side take most of the blame for that though.

And once again it was blatantly obvious that we need a striker - someone with pace who is capable of creating space and getting some shots in on goal.

It is daft, but as Bushey Blade says, I fancy we have much more of a chance of beating forest than Preston. There's no logic, but it just seems to be the way this season. Barmy really.

On a related note, what a shite reward awaits us for winning at Fulham and Villa!

It was awful, but the blame lies squarely at the door of Fulham. They are the premier league side, they were at home. It would be ludicrous to have gone there playing open expansive football, even if we could. We did exactly what Chelsea did to Man City on Monday.

I thought we were plucky but very low on quality and especially up top - utterly dreadful.
When we turned over possession and advanced up the field the interplay was shocking - we just about tackled ourselves
The decision making was very poor and allowed the Fulham players to cover relatively easily.
Porter's touch was dire - he worked hard but nothing he touched seemed to be at the right pace or under any sort of control.

With Flynn and Murphy driving on out wide we cried out for some quality in the centre.
The priority has not changed any.

Having said that I am looking forward to Miller getting some more game time now that he has broken the duck. Just hwat he needed as he is the only forward player we have that "knows" where to be. He is a striker, a poacher and a sniffer of chances. If he gets his sighters back on then he will make a real difference between now and the end of the season

If we get forest and we play in the same confident, attacking way in which they did when they beat West Sham then I seriously fear for us if I am honest as I thought they were immense.

But then in the first leg against Preston apparently they were rather underwhelming despite having a full strength squad out, so I guess it just depends what team turn up on the day.

We all know the quality they have in the squad.

The way we were set up was to hit Villa & Fulham on the break. We would have been beaten if we tried to play them at their own game. We are a league 1 side for christs sake. I know why we got so much grief from Chiles & co.

I hope we get forest as i think our team is bettert suited to playing higher level teams.

I am quite happy they believe the Blades are their ticket to the next round, Aston Villa and Fulham both believed the same.Any team from League One that has claimed two Premiership scalps at their own ground should be a worry for most teams.

Judging by last night I'd have thought they'd all be gutted that they're not playing Fulham cos THAT would have been a ticket to the QF...

Were a counter attacking side in the fa cup. We counter attacked and created more than Fulham in terms of danger.

If pne and forest think we'll be a walk over then it might work in our favour again...
Note Swiss, I think HPB meant the fans of PNE & Forest think we may be easy pickings, the management of these two will no doubt think differently. So I can't for the life of me see how a few know nowt opinions on message boards will work in our favour ;)

We are the lowest ranked team in the competetion and the ideal draw, albeit away. Let them think that, then we unleash.

Blades 0 - 4 Forest

Not that this counts for anything but we have a good FA cup record against both.

v Preston W2 D2 L1 - but that loss wasn't at the Lane.

v Forest W7 D3 L3 - the only defeat at the Lane was nearly 60 years ago on 8 Jan 1955, when they beat us 3-1. That was the last time they beat us in the FA Cup.

Come on wizzards.

A couple of things to remember:-

1. We are the lowest placed club left in the competition.

2. We were "giant-killers" against Aston Villa & Fulham

We are there simply to roll over for either Forest or Preston, who haven't got a good track records at BDTBL.

I thought Baxter was like a wet blanket when introduced last night. Awful.

That's harsh. He worked hard and tried to link things up with the midfield.

People seem to be basing his entire performance on his awful free kick. Not easy to play the lone forward when that's not your position. It's hard enough for a natural centre forward.

Don't like Forest and it must surely be them we face, have to say though that it will be a far more difficult fixture than either Villa who were in iffy form or Fulham who, well, enough said. Andy Reid could comfortably take on our midfield single-handedly with both ankles tied together . Much as I hate to say it I would predict 2 or 3 nil to Forest, hope that's not the case though and that we can perform as well as we have done in previous rounds.

The worry is Forest score goals, 17 in their last 6 games.

Preston have only scored 6 in their last 6 games. I'd rather face them

Mind you Cloughie absolutely hates Billy Davies (don't we all) so he would definitely be up for kneeing him up the arse again

Have Forest started wasting time yet ? Against us not Preston.

who gives a shit about 'neutrals'.

The managers of two pl clubs underestimated us...

Nah but they should have lost.

Even Billy Davies admitted that Forest should have lost.

Preston had enough chances to win that game.

I think Forest at home is a lot trickier than Fulham away. I knew we'd beat Fulham. I reckon we'll lose this one. Either way, Blades have surpassed expectation already this season in the FA Cup. It's lit up a dreary season.

Forest seem to have firepower, game changers. Fulham didn't have any.

Mackie and Henderson bagged last night, two decent goal scorers. If they can keep both fit or in hendos case, if they can keep him away from suspension.

Big factor for me: 3 ex blades in halford, Reid and hendo.

Other factor: history. 2003, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god... Are we again wheeling pesch out for this one.

History pt 2: Clough. Him. His dad. His sacking by derby after losing to forest.

I personally think it'll be a cracking game
