Assombalongalongalobga and Hugill already. Plus losing.
Gutted for them.
Blades rivals therefore relevant.

It might mean Hugill and Assomologabonga are unable to play against Leeds due to injury.
Then they return to the team against us after having 1 weeks rest.

Boro have been totally crap tonight, looks like they aren’t even trying.
Apparently Pullis is from Newport and a Newport fan.

We should beat them with all their players in. They’re bereft of confidence, presumably drained from them by the dinosaur in charge.

Bereft of confidence? They’ve just picked up an excellent win away at West Brom in the league and have the 2nd best away record in the division.

Thanks, interesting that. Apparently he played for Newport and used to watch them as a lad.

Might explain that when Newport scored the 2nd goal Pullis had a massive smile on his face, looked more a smile of joy instead of a smile of embarassment. Also in the post match interview he didn’t look slightest bit upset or angry.
Almost a full strength Boro were so poor tonight, they never turned up, outplayed and outfought.

Surely there will be a big reaction when they play Leeds on Saturday, hope Boro win.
Then on Wednesday night against us they play like they did tonight.

A freak result.

They are one team I literally can’t begin to understand why they are where they are. Their fans absolutely hate Pulis.

They are defensively solid and rely on their high quality individuals to produce some magic to get them out of jail.
They are very similiar to how Man Utd were under Mourinho, playing to rigid tactics with the shackles on.
They are poor to watch but Boro have this knack of consistently scraping results, don’t think they’ve any threat for top 2 though.

i mean this as a big compliment to newport county, but them beating middlesborough isnt the fa cup shock it used to be. because its got similarities to nigel clough, mike flynn has got golden touch. perfrom a miracle to keep the football league status in 2016/17 after taking over being 11pts from safety with 12 games to go (with a spell that over 46 games wouldve got auto promotion) , then 2017/18 they came from behind to knock out Leeds 3-1, minutes from knocking out Tottenham. then this season knocked out Leicester & now middlesborough. no there form at rodney parade i wouldn't put it past Newport to give man city a huge scare

& also even though there 1 of only rivals that i highly doubt will get promotion & will fall away. this result might not have a bearing on league as look at us a month after that big upset. 1 win away from topping the championship

Or maybe - like us v. Barnet - it was one of their best results of the season?

My mate is a Boro fan and I saw him and his family recently. His nine year old cannot get his head round why his dad self flagellates himself by watching them (on streams). He said ‘But dad all you ever do is moan how boring it is and you’re not happy even if they win because you’ve watched it. And you say they’re rubbish.’:)

He was clinging to the hope that they have a good away record but can’t really understand how. Reminds me a bit of when Blackwell broke a record for an away run with us. Rather than being met with any kind of joy everyone was a bit meh and those that witnessed it felt that it had been a bit like pulling teeth.

Boro made me lose my 6 Way Acca.

Therefore I hate Boro.

Agreed about Boro - I watched the game to get a feel for what Boro are like and they were rubbish - lets hope by next Wednesday after a Leeds have run them all over the place that they are tired.

Think i'd prefer a draw though - would rather not look behind at Boro/Derby/Bristol etc - would be nice if we could over the next few games ease away from those clubs behind.

Boro certainly didn’t look up for it. But it was a foul night and a muddy old style pitch, so it may have been that they just didn’t fancy it. Why get injured in the FA Cup when you know you’re going out in the next round?
Strachan was on the radio saying he thinks players pick up on what the manager’s thinking, that in one cup game he was worried about the upcoming league game and it transferred to the players who lost the cup game. That’s what it looked like last night.

Mate if you saw the state of my Fizzog a 1 way would be a miracle of Biblical proportions these days.................
You should worry. I’ve realised that I’m not that bad looking for my age, it’s my personality that puts them off. It’s not like I even get the chance to show them I’m hung like a hamster.

I think this is the new 'We're definitely going all out for the FA Cup, but...'

Last night's WBA v Brighton was a case in point. As good as they played, West Brom were 'set up' for disappointment with their team selection. The Baggies had (both) eyes on the league. Darren Moore would deny it but the crowd weren't fooled - 8,645 (including 627 away). Already struggling against a very mobile Brighton, what did West Brom do at HT? Take off top-scorer Rodriguez.

Assume that the boro Leeds match is being policed by sypd, which explains why it kicks off at 1:00

Was Strachan thinking

"It doesn't matter what my player does, Alan Kelly is going to save his penalty"?

If so, it appears to transfer to the players.

I don’t think it was a Blades match he was talking about, from memory, but it may have been.

I quite like listening to Strachan because as a manager he’s had both relative success and failure and is often open about what he did wrong.
