Blade Runners is a fantastic book. Armstrong does a brilliant job of profiling the people involved and articulating the culture of the supporters.

I still haven't managed to read The Biography all the way through because it's huge.

Alan Birchenall is the most entertaining written by someone with a Blades connection

What about "The MCCabe years" how I destroyed a football club.

The New Statestman - A classic story of destruction & mis management on an un paralleled level.

The Times - Magnificent what a performance.

The Sun - Blades Blunted by 1 man

Martin Samuels - they deserve each other

The Sheffield & Heeley Advertiser - it's all up for grabs

As well as the books listed in this thread, I own the following:

Matthew Bell: Red, White and Khaki: (the story of United's 1914-15 season and Cup win)
Matthew Bell: Viva Sabella! (Alex Sabella's signing and time at the Lane)
Denis Clarebrough and Andrew Kirkham: Sheffield United Football Club: who's who
Denis Clarebrough: Sheffield United Football Club: the First 100 years
Clarebrough and Kirkham also brought out an updated complete record in 2012
Steven Kay: the Evergreen in Red and White (Novel about Rab Howell's exploits in the Championship winning season)
Andy Pack and Kevin Cookson: Destination Premiership: Sheffield United's promotion season 2005/6
Nick Udall: Sheffield United: 30 Memorable games from the 1970s
John Garrett: Blades Folklore and Fables

There is a lot about United in these books:

Keith Farnsworth: Sheffield Football: 1857-1961, a history (volume 1)
Keith Farnsworth: Sheffield Football: 1961-95, a history (volume 2)
Keith Farnsworth: The Blades and the Owls: Pictoral History of the Sheffield Derby Matches
Percy M Young: Football in Sheffield (1961)

There is a fair amount about United in these biographies:

Alan Biggs: Confessions of a Football Reporter
Keith Gillespie: How not to be a Football Millionaire
E J Huntley: The Matador: the Life and Career of Tony Currie

The best book about United is IMHO Fit and Proper. The worst is Tony Matthews' encyclopedia.

The ones that stand out to me are Fit and Proper, Blades Tales and the biography.

Best two are Blade Runners and Fit and Proper.

Excellent books that don't pull any punches, and give a superb insight to some of the people involved with United and some of the events that happened.

I read the Warnock book recently, it's an entertaining read if a bit subjective. Interesting to hear him talk about going on the kop and away games as a young fan. There's probably an updated version due out soon.

Fit & Proper is a very good book. I enjoyed Neil Warnock's book but as always, plenty of things that were always somebody elses fault.

Already done mate. He released it a couple of years back, details his time at Palace, QPR and Leeds. Very good read even if it isn't Blades related.
