are all worth reading.

Common threads are:

You get to know about the people, TC is a legend, but he's also a person too, and he's been through a fair bit, some of which is very relatable. When I picked this up I didn't think I'd be learning about Work/Life balance.
How much players play with and through injuries, sometimes serious injuries.
How unprofessional professional football is (or was, until recently) eg from memory Paddy Kenny didn't have any goalkeeping coaching till he was an established Premier League goalkeeper; then there's all the sneaking into and out of hotels, even as an international player.

In lots of ways if you've ever played schools football, or Saturday football - even at the 100th rung on the pyramid/ladder - a lot of the stories are very relatable. Eg Paddy Kenny (again) on the bench (I think) for the Republic of Ireland who are playing France; the discussion amongst the players is a version of: "They've got that Thierry Henry playing for them, he's reyt good."

They're often playing the same game as we've played, with all the same characters, they're just a bit better at it.

Blades Tales 1 and 2 by Andrew McWhirter are worth having in your Blades book collection.

I'll also pop a tick against Fit & Proper by Gary Armstrong & Matthew Bell - having been on the steering committee of BIFA back in the day alongside Matt, I can safely say that there's no fiction or dramatic licence used in that tome- it's all true!!

I can recommend this - it’s a novel based on the real player’s life, but it’s a great little snapshot of life in late 19th century Sheffield, and how football worked in those days.

You’re right I wasn’t, I’m sure that some of the stories are true in these kind of books. But I imagine there are a lot of embellishments when it comes to the truth.
