Never liked it or done it, however bad the situation as I don't see the benefit. It's obvious the players are also disappointed so why depress them further?

It's not just booing though. McGinn hit a couple of duff corners at the end tonight and was visibly annoyed so why does he need a torrent of abuse hurled at him to further compile his misery.

Like I say I never agree with booing but even more so tonight after what I saw as a seen result and at times performance against a good side.

Admittedly we need turn those spells into a good 90 minutes and hopefully unearth some match winners. But anyone who booed tonight please justify it as currently I can't see any sane reasoning.

The crowd booed because we were crap again. It's not rocket science. I didn't - but have no problem with those that did.
I can't say I agree that we were crap, but even without looking into the performance, as Clough seems to be at the moment (looking to grind out results), i'm pretty sure 99% of fans would have taken 4 points from the past 2 games if it was offered to them. They probably would have in the past 2 seasons when we haven't been struggling! Walsall recently beat Peterborough and Orient have just come away from Bristol with less points than we took, so all in all I'm quite pleased.

They justify it by paying good cash to get down to the Lane in blind belief that the well-paid individuals that represent the team they support might just turn in a decent performance once in a while.

You tell me what device available gets through to the players in a better way? Tweeting? A sternly phrased letter to the Chairman? Facebook? Or do the crowd just stay silent? I'm sure the message would get through, aren't you?

In case it has bypassed all you 'don't boo the poor lambs' brigade:

1. The crowd do often cheer as well. Usually when the players do something credible, like play good possession football, deny the opposition any foothold in the game, or score a fucking goal or two. Haven't seen much of this recently, have you?

2. I don't give a tinker's fuck about how booing might affect the confidence of these rather fucking wealthy sportsmen, who have their Audi fuck-off-mobiles parked outside in the Cherry St Car Park. You chose to be a footballer, it's not a bad life, you get your kit for free (as opposed to fifty-sheets a time for us cunts) and you should be well aware what the deal is when you sign your contract. If you don't like it, either improve and win some games or fuck off out of the game and join us in the legion of wankers who call themselves Bladesmen.

We have seen better times. Times with 30000 happy, dancing, cheering fans in the ground. If its quiet and booey, then the fans are not to blame.

Surely you should care if it affects confidence as that just makes the performances you so despise more likely to happen? Their pay is irrelevant, no one likes having abuse hurled at them. The fans choose to pay their money and in my eyes shouldn't bother if they don't come to support and instead wheel out the few generic phrases regarding the players inabilities.

Pay is definitely relevant, does anybody seriously think that any footballer that performed tonight gives a toss about what the fans think? They're rolling in it whilst playing infront of 15,000 significantly unwealthier people.

The lot of them are a disgrace to the badge and deserve to be booed. I don't understand anybody who is content with acquiring 1 point against teams such as Giliingham and Walsall at home. Us decent folk work much much harder than the lot who performed tonight. Their job is to play football and so far they deserve to be sacked from their job.

Eh? So tell me. How do the players get some feedback on how they are playing? 'Confidence'? What a crock of shite. They are Professional Footballers. These people play football, for a living. They represent the best that the club can offer, and the individuals on the pitch are the best the manager thinks will be to face the opposition of the day. And the opposition is ... fucking Gillingham, Peterborough, Crawley cocking Town ... tell me you don't think that as some of the highest paid players in this godforsaken league they shouldn't just have confidence, they should shit confidence. And yes ... and more yes. Pay is everything to do with it when they are earning sometimes up to three times their opposition, who have the confidence enough to pass effectively, string a few moves together, and bang in a few goals. They have confidence, and I'll bet you a golden turd their supporters let them know when they are making a cat's arse of a basic job.

Our contributions ... through website access, gate receipts, kit purchases and Sky subscriptions, are paying their wages. That buys me, and you, the right to boo. Respect that, and no one will object when you cheer when they score. If you get the chance, that is.

People boo because we are shit and there allowed to show there displeasure at what they are been subjected too any way they seem fit. If that's booing then so be it. As for saying we weren't that bad you must be in la la land cos we was f-ing awful yet again, the players just are not good enough. Walsall had 56% of the ball 5shots and 3 on target...we had 6 shots and 1 on target if that's a good performance at home over 90mins then I'd fucking hate to see a bad one...

McGinn was just terrible tonight and his corners were just unacceptable what on earth has he been practicing all week? He deserved some sort of stick after tonight's performance, he was the worst player on the field imo, well Baxter was probably worse but did come off the bench.
Booing I will always say is acceptable in sports, we are paying good money to watch United and if the fans are not happy with the performance then I think they are more then right to boo.

That may have been McGinn's poorest display but he has been pretty good on the other occasions that I have seen him. We are clearly set up to avoid defeat at the moment and it is not what people want at home. Booing tonight was out of order. If we had not given a goal away after half time then I think we would have won the game and impressed as much as we can with what we have. I thought that the effort was there from the players so no need to boo.

Pay me £5k a week and you can call me whatever you want. I don't like the booing too much, don't do it personally, but for the other poor sods like me who pay for ST's and match tickets to arguably the worst team in our history, they can do what they want.

Totally agree, I've booed in the past but realise that to this bunch of losers it makes no odds, that's why they continue to put in such abject performances. Last night illustrated why this club is only heading one way, no fight, spirit, passion etc call it what you will. A few of you will cling to the hope that one or two signings in the JTW will make a difference, I doubt they will personally, I'm resigned to the basement league, hope I'm proved wrong.

It's carrot and stick innit? Boo 'em when they're crap, parade 'em through the steeets when they're good. I mean don't any of these players want to be a background cartoon on an S24SU web page one day?

His corners were fine apart from the last few. Coady nearly scored from one first half.

I think a lot of people are overreacting about the performance. I thought after the denied penalty and after they scored we played well, and kept them pinned back. There goal, although White could have done more, was a great cross. I don't know why people assume United's wages are so much higher than anyone else's as most of these players have been signed in this league as we looked to cut the cloth. Walsall are a good side, the goal came at a bad time as I think if the players had held on for 10 minutes confidence would have grown and we'd have won.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It matters not whether players are booed or cheered, if you're shit then you're shit.

I agree crack fish, if we hadn't have conceded at 1-0, we would have won the game.....

However, we did. That performance was unacceptable, how many shots on target did we have during the game? I don't remember any?

I agree mate, but you would have made your points much better without the offensive language.

I agree mate. You get the impression that some of the fucking twats on here can't speak a sentence of the hairy arsed queen's english without resorting to fucking profanities. Just fucking leave it out you bastards, alright..?

I don't boo but your not seriously questioning those who do? Forget what players get paid but think that most of us would put more effort in and do it for free if we could. Then add the constant frustration paying £25 to watch that steaming pile underperform and you get one of the reasons some people boo. Sorry, but you pay your money so you have the right to dissent so long as its legal.

2 crucial corners at the depth of the game, we score from one and we win.
The corners don't even beat the first man =Unacceptable.

We have been cursed with corner takers incapable of beating the first man for years, Tonge started to do it towards the end, Gillespie, Baxter and now Mcginn. The only two decent corner takers I can recall in the last few years are Cotterills and Blackmans.

Despite a few poor ones, McGinn and Lappin are the best corner takers I've seen in years at Sheffield United, and I've seen a fair few!

In the first half McGinn delivered a few decent corners and set pieces from wide have been a bit better this year. Not sure why he made a mess of the last 2/3 - whether fitness, ground conditions in that corner or pressure. Unfortunately for him those will be the incidents that most fans remember.

One thing really pissed me off last night there was a crew in front of me in the South Stand and when Porter was substituted they were gesturing to stop clapping him off that's just out of order.
Now I'm not Porters biggest fan but he had a tidy game.

Unfortunately some decide before they get to the ground.

Say as you see....he had a good game!

Unlike a number of others.

If you look at the statistics most of the Premier Leagues biggest stars struggle to beat the first man and rarely reach one of their own players. The conversion rate for corners is around 2/3% so it's not just us. Good corner takers seem hard to come by.

Booing is an epidemic spreading through English football - fans are generally unhappy across the board!
