Booing vs. Barnsley

I didn't hear the boos but what a ridiculous thing to do.

Better start getting behind the lad if Billy is out for any serious length of time. Never once booed a Blades player and won’t start now. Those around me actually derive much mirth from him. One lad is deliberately over the top in his praise for McB and the rest of us take the piss if he does something wrong or daft. It’s almost a match day tradition now :D

Thanks all for the replies. Sounds like a tiny little bit of booing from our side, but not a widespread thing.

He did well today, and a simultaneously lovely and clumsy-as-hell assist.

He’s been poor this season, but there are a few factors for that, some his responsibility, some not so much. We’re gonna need him to perform, and we’re gonna need that bond between fans and players. Booing doesn’t help.

Glad to hear it’s just a few idiots.
I think that is right. I sit 2/3rds of the way up the kop and didn't notice any booing so it must have been very isolated. I wasn't too impressed by the "if oli scores we're on the pitch" chant, which was clearly sung by many.

It was kind of funny with Chris Porter, who was signed for thimbles and was getting better in a shit team. Not what our terribly out of form record signing needs at the moment, IMO.

Didn't hear any boos, but did hear lots of groans. Including my own. But to bracket him with Chris Porter is a bit silly. Porter was far better. Yes, really....

Could still do a job. Unfinished business at the club. Summer window approaching.

I wouldn’t boo McBurnie but I certainly don’t buy into this “you must back your own players regardless” idea. People get slagged off on here for legitimate criticism of players performing badly.

It’s the same as when a player gets criticised, plays better and all off a sudden the doubters should be eating large portions of humble pie.

We all pay our money and are entitled to cheer/boo/praise/grumble/laud/criticise whenever we want. Same on here.

If McBurnie wants to play better, he should knuckle down, stop fucking around on social media, go to bed earlier (my mate says he’s always up late posting about UFC) and work harder.

If he can’t handle some mild booing, he shouldn’t really be a footballer.

It is dumb in the extreme to boo a player who is coming on as a sub.

But there is IMHO nothing wrong with booing a player, or the team, after a poor and/or half hearted performance.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, people who claim never to have booed are either lying, or are a bit odd.

I’m sorry but that’s rubbish. What are we expecting? We’re expecting to clap him on like the rest of the players get? Booing gets the best out of him what a load of tosh.

You try coming on in front of 28,000 at 25 years old and being booed by your own fans.

i was only joking mardy arse and for the record i didnt boo him, dont think ive ever booed anyone, i find it a bit gay. I went with the apathetic limp wristed soft clap, like most of the ground did. Im just not outraged/angry/surprised that he got booed 🤷‍♂️

But good news though, I reckon with just a few short years in therapy and a couple of posh wanks he'll be able to get over this emotionally devastating event, maybe even you too? Could even help each other out with the latter

There was deffo booing from the kop. Both at half time and when Mcburnie came on.
Embarrassing

I'm not lying, so I must be odd.

I've had many and its not helped.

I've booed loads of times, but someone has to take the kids to the Christmas panto......!!!!!!! ;)

I have a very low opinion of McBurnie, based on his time at BDTBL, (as I have previously stated on this Forum), but I do not and will not boo him when he runs out on the pitch for us.
I too think v. Barnsley was his best appearance for us in an absolute age!.
I am still in awe at the quality and precision of his through-ball for MGW's goal, whilst performing a Max Wall Tribute routine!! 👌

Joking aside. I genuinely hope his 'assist' is a confidence-booster kick-start for him (and us!) 🤞🤞🤞
