On Saturday I thought the booing was aimed at Blackie for bringing on the wrong player not at Quinny himself. I think if Creswell or Little had come on then the crowd would have been happier.

We didn't need to bolster the midfield against Bristol, we could have scored more if we had been more positive.

Surely the booing is representative of both sides - people dont wanna see quinn and people dont want blackwell to bring him on.

I agree with Grumpy, people booed at what they saw as a negative tactic, taking off a goalscoring threat to secure the defence.
However Sproule was really causing Kallio problems and once Quinn came on he nullified that threat.
I would have kept Camara on though and tried to get the third goal.

Hmmm. I think the booing was aimed completely at Quinny. I wonder how it affected him - is he the sort who needs reassurance, an arm round the shoulder and the odd cuddle, or does he respond best to a swift kick up the arse and being shouted at?

He's certainly got the luck of the irish! He's been absolutely dog-shite for the majority of the season and how he has kept his place is almost as big a mystery as how Monty manages to lace his boots up every weekend.

If the booos were aimed at Quinn then bloody good job, he certainly needs to know that he's not liked

booing one of our own players is a f'kin disgrace....................er imo!

If it's so bad that a FAN feels the need to boo our player, then don't f'kin go!

Its not just your opinion. The majority of fans don't ever boo a particular player. It is probably the most counter productive thing you can do as a "supporter".

I have no issue with booing a shit team performance after the final whistle, but booing an individual player - before he's even on the pitch - well, I think you have to be a "special" sort of person to even contemplate doing it.

It would have been ridiculous not to do anything about Sproule running circles around Kallio. Putting Quinn on worked and it was good management.

I'm no admirer of Quinn. I would never select him to play and would get him out of the club at a stroke.

I don't, however, support abuse of any player during a game. Leave that sort of thing to the Pigs - Morris, Sibon, Owusu, Jeffers and many others. Save the criticism for the pub, radio and on here. I know it's difficult at times, especially with the appalling football we've had to endure this season, but if I can manage it [and I do] I'm sure anyone can. Match day is for 100% support in my view.

I think your kidding yourselves about Quinn having any effect on Sproule ,he carried on being a threat and Quinns effect on the game was about the same as usual ,nil.
Saying that I would never advocate the booing of a player before or during the game and anyone who does shouldn't be at the Lane.

Don't recall ever hearing it before the PL season.

Agree about Quinn, brings very little, but booing players is a long way removed from being a supporter.

I probably didn't word it correctly but if Quinny goes home after every game thinking he's earned his dough then the odd boo to put him right wont hurt and could even give him the huge kick up the arse he needs!

Thanks for the insult though. Last time I said something like that it was infraction time.

Do you think that he doesn't know when he's playing/played crap?

What does booing a player when he walks onto the pitch hope to achieve, apart from probably making him play worse?

Seriously, if a so called SUPPORTER/FAN gets to the point where he feels he needs to boo his own player, then keep the f'k away!

Disgrace!

Your comment made the insult absolutely valid. Its the first thing I thought when I read your post.

OK then, lets put our arm round Quinny, tell him he's a good player and to ignore the nasty fans.

or

Tell him to listen to the critisism he is getting and tell him the only way to shut the boo boys up is by playing to the potential we know he has.

I know which would motivate me more.

I personally have never booed a single Blades player, (the team as a whiole, yes I admit I have) but FFS some people really need to grow a pair.

When people are booing players on to the pitch, WHEN WE ARE TWO NIL UP, it makes me question whether I can be arsed coming anymore.

The whole adage of a manager making the change think "he's been having a bad run, but we're comfortable and 10 minutes might bring his confidence up" - are these people who boo too retarded to see this?

I wish they'd just **** off.

Your whole argument is illogical, as he's being booed BEFORE he steps onto the pitch.

I don't think Quinny was booed whilst he was on the pitch, hence my feeling that the booing was aimed at the tactics not the player.

The tactic worked out OK in the end but if had conceded a goal [or even 2] then I think Blackie would have got slaughtered on here.

That would have strengthened my belief that the booing was for the said tactic.

Booing when the team has played the best football of the season seems very strange to me. We have no idea why Quinn was brought on was it tactical, was it due to an injury or did Blackie just want to give us something to talk about.

For the first time in a while i left the BDTBL with a smile on my face due to the football booing a player was not or will never be something to be condoned

It had to be tactical Sproule was having it away down that wing

I don't think Sproule had a free run at Kallio after Quinn came on. It wasn't so much getting tackles in or man marking Sproule, Quinn isn't as attack minded as Ward and therefore was often in a position to help Kallio out when City broke.

It's moronic. Who are these cretins?

After a few unsatisfactory evenings, I booed my girlfriend's performance in bed.
Strange, not only did the performance not improve, she moved on and is now doing it elsewhere.
And I was convinced she just needed a good kick up the rear.

I certainly don't condone the booing of girlfriends. I have never booed one myself. I prefer to criticise my wife's performance in the pub or on this board.

Some girlfriends are just poor though; consistently poor and don't improve. They make little or no contribution in bed except for strange aimless flicks and bizarrely hooking it over their own shoulder with no hope of finding a team-mate.

That calibre of girlfriend is a waste of time and space and should be actively encouraged to do it elsewhere.

hopefully the same will happen to mr quinn .. i'd love to boo the b&&&&&d but i can't bring myself to boo the shirt.. i'd love to kick him right up the arse if truth be told..
the fans aren't stupid.. they know he is the one that is the centre of all of this crap football.. he always seems to get in the team even though he is totally ineffective at anything except giving the ball away.. thats why they boo him..
the guy has been on ten grand a week for the last three years .. stop feeling sorry for him .. he's had our pants down
