Yes I totally agree that we were average to poor the first half but booing, really?! I dare accuse some of the extra 5k not normally in attendance but there was absolutely no need for the booing at half time, I sit about half way up the kop and although you could tell it was only two or three it still really wound me up, had the Swindon game for example shown people nothing? To counter that however I will say the vast majority stuck with the team and backed them when they needed it, onto another tough game on New Year's Eve now! up the blades!

put 25000 people in a room and there are bound to be a few dickheads in it. Just look at the not good enough thread ;-)

I thought the crowd stood by the team today and as Wilder said, that's because they trust them based on the previous 22 games to give it their all.

I heard the boos (very few) and I've come to realise that there are some people who think that's what you do if your team isn't winning / doesn't win.

If I was the leader of the world, they'd be off to some re-education camp breaking rocks for 10 years

I wouldn't have said anything ordinarily mate and I checked with my mate and the bloke who sit either side of me and both heard it, yes we were playing bottom of the league but they were having a right go and it's no given that we're going to steam roll everything. It was the gangway F side of the stand.

Dont think ive ever booed a team off at half time, certainly not whoever im supporting any rate, its just counter productive.

Booed a few refs and opponents for being imcompetent nincompoops and dirty diving cheats though!

I've never booed my own team off at half or full time and I never will

If that day ever came I would stop going.

I boo the opposition. I boo the ref. I won't boo my team

I didnt hear the boos to be fair but I did have someone behind me slagging us off from minute one saying all sorts of crap like "Sharp is past it" and "We wont even make the play offs". Not seen him all season. No bother with fans who dont or cant go every week but to turn up and go off like that when you clearly havent seen us much this season is ridiculous for me

Whilst Oldham are bottom of the league, I think before today, they'd only lost 4 games away from home. That's not a bad stat tbh for a team rock bottom
They had nothing up front that looked like it was going to get a goal and with only 2 in 23 it sounds like that's their season summed up. On days like today the team turns up and gives it a go, but I'd imagine on other days they just don't look interested.

Sat in kop for first time in years. There were boos at ht and the legroom is a joke. Last time I sit there.

I thought the atmosphere (I was on the kop) went really stale and quiet after about 25 minutes. Credit to the fans at the back of the kop who got the noise levels up particularly in the second half. Next time I'll try and get a seat near them. The fans around me were as quiet as church mice.

No booing on south stand. Didn't hear anything

Heard a few isolated boos at HT whistle. Bet they are the "first game of the season" types.

Totally agree. I have never and will never boo my own team. Unless they run on in blue and white stripes. Otherwise I cannot imagine any reason for it - certainly not playing badly or not winning.

I've never 'booed' because it sounds fucking stupid. Seriously, "boooo"? That's your expression of displeasure? How infantile.

However I did spend most of last season screaming for the wankers who played for us to get the fuck out of our club at half time and full time, and for that I make zero apology.

That stat does put the game into perspective, with regard to the "not good enough thread" i remarked in there that Oldham did play play like a bottom of the league side.

I have. I think it was the Robson era when we were 3-0 down at HT to Stoke at home. I could be wrong? I just remember we were in the mire and my frustrations boiled over. I actually left at HT for my own safety haha

What about the one in your name?

BB for me too, bang behind the goal so we can't be too far away from each other.
Ah so you were shouting me to get my attention. You should point that out to the thread starter. He may then realise how popular I am.

Early in the 2nd half, just after the attendance was announced there was a big roar and the volume went up a notch. during a break in play that followed i watched the players looking around the ground at the stands roaring them through a 3-4 minute stoppage. As the game restarted Fleck immediatley picked the ball up and ran 30 yards with it straight down Oldhams throat and the complexion of the game shifted totally from that point.

I hate the '12th man' cliche but at this level, where many players (and refs) arent used to the 26k numbers, an atmosphere at a ground like BDTBL - good and bad - can sway things one way or tother.

Was just about to post this.

The volume definitely turned up once the attendance was announced. I think everyone realised they were actually at the game and needed to participate a bit.

But how does anyone else know who you are booing?

I thought the atmosphere was poor up until the end, when it got quite good. I can empathise with fans struggling to get excited because they've had to deal with a lot of turgid football for a long time, but they never seem as apathetic when it comes to criticising the team.

I did hear the boos and just hoped that they might be for the referee.

Ever since the Gillingham away game last season I've made my peace with the fact that every football crowd is, in a small part, a paradigm of utter wretches.
