It's one of those where any result is a good result for us as long as we win our game

February we play Scunny and then bolton at home in successive Saturday fixtures. If the top 3 are still the same in February then those will be very important games for all three clubs. They can't both win. That's what's good for us. If we do our job while those two are playing we're guaranteed to make some ground up on one or both of them that day. Looking at the fixture list, we need to get a good run together because we have a very tough February where things can go extremely well or extremely poorly for us.
Obviously a Bolton win is the worst case scenario. It's then a question of would we rather 'consolidate' second with Scunthorpe winning, or somewhat meet half way and prefer a 0-0 draw.
Personally, I'd rather Scunny win as I still think they will start to struggle, whereas I can see Bolton lasting longer (pending admin). However a draw would not be a bad result either.
All assuming we win of course!
In my opinion, Scunny would need to lose their three main goal winners to injury, to start to struggle. Josh Morris, Kevin Van Veen and Paddy Madden all scoring on a fairly regular basis (Madden, a hat trick in their last game), people keep saying Scunthorpe will fall away (as have other teams in recent years who started off well, like Tranmere and Gillingham), but I just don't see it.
They've started to falter, as evidenced by the points margin decreasing. In my opinion, Scunny would need to lose their three main goal winners to injury, to start to struggle. I'd also suspect someone will come in for at least one of the players you've mentioned and given Scunthorpe's small status, will potentially struggle to keep hold of them.
Shouldn't that be 2 points lost each..just sayin'...In the game Bradford v scunny on BD - then Bradford to win.
In the OP question - a draw as 1 point is "lost" to them both.
UTB
Oldham, Northampton and Bury are all in the bottom 4 on that form guide......our next 3 opponents
And very important that we get 9 points out of 9. With the Fleetwood game off, after Bury we go 12 days without a game.

Scunny D1 L2 2.2 ppgLast 10 games:
Bolton P10 W8 L2, Average 2.4 points per game
Scunny P10 W7 D2 L1, Average 2.3 points per game
Started to falter. Uh. OK then.

Hadnt realised that table - shame we started slowly although having been at both Bolton and Millwall we shouldnt have lost either - a draw at Bolton would have been very useful in view of recent results but at least we have recovered and for the first time for years we are in touch with the leaders instead of looking over the distance and hopingLeague Table excluding the first 4 games
Sheffield United P 18 W 13 D 4 L 1 F 38 A 16 D +22 PTS 43
Scunthorpe United P 18 W 11 D 4 L 3 F 34 A 16 D +18 PTS 37
Bolton Wanderers P 18 W 9 D 4 L 5 F 21 A 10 D +11 PTS 31
Then if you asked a Scunthorpe fan, or a Bolton fan both of them would probably answer
"This game is must win for us, because Sheffield United are bang in form, scoring goals left right and centre and we need to win this game to shake the other team off"
Both of them will be scrapping for their lives because they know and fear us,and know that we are the team who look more than ready to take this league by the scruff of the neck, and i think it will take a huge effort for anyone to get even close to us this season.
