Will be disappointed not to see him start against the shammers, whether that be because Wilder correctly thinks he’s not up to it or because or worst still, he’s mistakenly not giving Bogle a chance he deserves.

If he deservedly can’t get a start ahead of a wing back who simply can’t cross, when we’re bottom of the league and in desperate need of goals, that’s surely a sign that’s he’s not quite at the level the management team were hoping he’d be at.

Our wing backs are crucial attacking players for us, and if Lowe and Bogle aren’t up to it the club needs to be working towards having wing backs who are well rounded attackers, can cause problems in transitions and consistently give us an end product in the final third.

Baldocks a more than decent footballer, good defensively and an outstanding athlete, but his lack of end product is holding us back big time and in a situation where fine margins could give us the win to kickstart our season, an exciting young wing back coming in and giving us the edge in the final third could make a huge difference.

He was injured in July and didnt have a full pre-season

I think Radio Sheffield reporters are right up Tufty's arse, and are almost reluctant to probe deeper (giggity).

Why doesn't someone actually ask him specifically how Bogle is going?

Baldock has been one of our better performers this season. He's caused lots of problems in the build up and defended well. If i had to state one negative, it would be that his crossing has been poor.

With JOC and Fleck out and now Stevens further inside, most of our attacks have been forcefully down the right hand side. Throwing in Bogle in would further weaken us at this stage. Basham and Baldock have an understanding.

Pre-season I did say the same and I stick to it. But he's been one of our top players in the last few games, he won't be dropped for Bogle anytime soon Reece. Bogle's arrival has probably resulted in Baldock's improved form though.

Hmm top 6 (outfield) players...
Bash, Egan, Berge, Ampadu...
McGoldrick, Stevens.
Don't think I've missed anybody with a valid claim.

Stevens??
No matter in which position baldrick had finished last season and started this in much the better form. In fact I would say that our best Lwb performance this season was Osborn

tell you what guys you put your best 6 performers up and I'll snipe away at your choices.

Baldock's end product can get better, he'll know that, but we can't upgrade on George right now.
He's one of our best performers and he's certainly not to blame for where we are.

Baldock is the least of our worries. Fully expect him to play!
I’m more interested in seeing who’s down the left and in midfield for this game... come to think about it... who’s selected up top an all!
I’ve got a good feeling I’ll like the team when it’s announced this week.

The rest of your six are fine, it was just Stevens over Baldock which felt like an odd one. Stevens was far from his best playing at LWB earlier this season, and at LCB he's arguably been even worse. Don't get me wrong, you're not exactly spoilt for choice when you try and pick our six best performers, but Stevens definitely isn't among them for me. But y'know, each to their own.

Here's the problem with Stevens as I see it, he hasn't had Fleck with him so straight away he's having to get use to a new man. Then we've got the choices, Osborn and Lowe both great players in their own way both had at least one good effort on goal but Osborn dives in to his tackles too much taking him out of the game if he doesn't make it and Lowe (to me anyway) looks a hairsbreadth from 2 yellow cards every game. Whether that's him tactically fouling I don't know but most of the time it seems unnecessary.

I'm not sure we'll see Bogle this season. To not even make a squad yet is a pretty damning indictment if his current ability to play at PL level.

Especially when we are this ineffective going forward and that being his strength

I just don't think there are 6 worth mentioning.

Egan has been fantastic. Without him we'd have lost by a lot more a few times
Baldock has done well. But his attacking performance against City was verging on the embarrassing.

Apart from that? I'm not sure anyone has been good enough to separate from the rest for more than the odd 5 minute spells

As I implied the first 4 of the 6 were fairly easy choices, however I've now had a look at the EPL stats and Stevens stats for this year make him look about the busiest man on the pitch. Bear in mind he has played every minute of the 8 games but:
Top passer 315 (Lundstram 274)
Top tackles 23 (Bash 22)
3rd best clearances 28 (Bash 32 Egan 30)
So I understand how people may have the impression he hasn't played well but the stats suggest otherwise.

I'd still keep with George, he's been one of our better performers this season. I'd like to see Bogle on the bench though.

The problem with Stevens is that he's been pretty good if he was playing left back. Struggled in the back 3 (unsurprising really) and not been able to get forward too much. With Fleck and JoC out he's been left unprotected a lot and not had the same kind of support going forward.

Baldock, although his crossing has been woeful, has been one of our better players. Simply because he's out best outlet going forward. Those diagonal balls. Difficulty is, as our left hand side has been impotent, opponents know what we're going to do so there's been an extra man defending against this. Less time and less space. Teams are also matching up against us and pushing our wingbacks back with athletically superior players and then playing ball over the top between CB and WB.

If you were to pick 6 of our best players so far this season, isn’t Baldock part of that 6? It’s understandable why Lowe has had more opportunities, as Bogle has to dislodge better competition that is less out of form.
Isn’t that a bit like asking what your favourite boil is? I like George and he has been decent but most of our attacks come down the right and he can’t cross for toffee.

Nathan Hemmingham wrote recently that Wilder said he’d been considering Bogle. But Hemmingham himself then said it’d be unlikely he’d start him against West Ham as Baldock could rightly feel aggrieved about playing a run of the toughest games of the season before being replaced for our first easier game in a long while. Point is I don’t think Bogle is miles off. Only covering one position goes against him in terms of making the bench. And it made sense for Lowe to have a go given the injuries and problems on the left hand side. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t make the squad for any of our next 4/5 games.
