Taking stock after single games doesn't mean much - but if you look at seasons in blocks then you can start to get a meaningful sense of performance.
After 17 games last season we had 36 points - a brilliant start.
After 17 games this season we had 30 points - a solid to average start.
In the second block of 17 games last year we gained 19 points - post Coutts.
In the second block of 17 games this season we gained 34 points - promotion performance rate.
Teams that get promoted tend to get stronger through the season rather than starting well and hanging on.
In our League 1 title season we had 34 points from the first 17 games and 34 points from the second 17 games, so rock solid promotion performance. Of course that year we then took 32 points from the last 12 games and annihilated the rest!
I'm almost daring to believe that he's going to pull off the Magic again.
