He was at Harley St in London this week. It’s deffo his ACL. However, ACL’s these days aren’t such a bad injury compared to the past. Some ACL’s don’t require surgery. But, he’ll be out for a while. Source: a football agent I know.
He may want to fire his agent, if he is leaking confidential medical information.

You seem to have jumped to the conclusion that it was his agent, it could have been an agent who was just at the hospital at the same time and spoke to him or overheard a conversation...

Bloody agents everywhere can't go anywhere without stumbling over one

Not a chance you can carry on playing with a tear to either ACL or MCL. He may have strained one of them, but a tear would be impossible to carry on
I think you can. It just depends on the extent of the tear.

There's was an American football player recently who tore his ACL in the first half of an NFL game. He went on and played the rest of the game and didn't realise he'd done it until a scan the following day.

Really hope he's not out for a while. Peck did great 2nd half but our squad can't cope that well with long term injuries really I'd say.

Need to see the challenge on him again. Was it also bannan like the burrows one was that in the prem would have been a red? Probably still should have been but no VAR means it's not looked at again. Was it before or after that burrows foul as well? As had he gone that wouldn't have been able to have happened.

Bannan was in the derby spirit and putting in hard challenges but he supposedly old enough by now to know when he's being a bit dangerous. He was against burrows. Was he against Blaster too?
No it was a soft yellow really, there was a much worse than that "challenge" on Smith which should have been a red, there is a picture somewhere with Smith's shirt half way up his back its literally GBH.
Go over to Porktalk that's where I get all my up to date information on United, like if we don't go up or taken over we are in real trouble, or if we do get taken over by these Americans they haven't got a pot to piss in.
This site is only good if you want to know about Indian restaurants or takeaways, chocolate bars or if Dozy was ever a guest of the Prince or the Club at Reading.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I think like Vini Souza Davies can be a real asset in the Championship. If he stays fit that is, of course.
He would be, but can he stay fit? The odds are stacked against I'm afraid

How boring you are !!!

Let’s wait and see but generally when you see players going down with knee issues without contact it’s not great. Seems likely we’ll be without him for a stretch.

Luckily (for us, not blaster) it’s probably the one position in the squad we have some options. Peck looks ready made to step in if needed. He’s not as calm on the ball as Ollie but brings great drive and energy. Worst case could drop Hamer back in there. Would make us less solid but might improve our chance creation. And then we can also have a look at Davies to see if he’s still up to it.

Blaster was going to need a rest anyway - there’s no way we’re getting 40 good games out of any 20 year old. Obviously would have been better if it wasn’t an enforced change but it’s not a disaster if he’s out until Xmas, which seems possible.

I thought he was fouled and didn't go down without contact. He got injured with the rough treatment pigs dished out. Hopefully as you say a rest and recovery will be good , very competitive player who like O’Hare gets rough treatment.

His foot got stuck in the turf. It wasn't one of those horrible ones where you could see the knee bend the wrong way through

I had my eye cataracts removed recently due to failing eyesight .didn't see that though any other posters pickup on that ? studs stuck in turf is the worst culprit for ACL s.

a lot on here dismissing tom davies but i think when fully fit he will be a big asset for us underated imo by most blades fans certainly at this level mind still think we need another midfielder in january
I’ve thought since his early Everton days that there’s a very good player in there.

But he’s had shit luck with injuries, he’s as fragile as the top of a Crème Brûlée

I wouldn’t want to heap pressure on them, but we have a very impressive pipeline judging by how ruthless the u21s are. Undefeated so far. Even without a number of players due to Internationals, they gained a creditable 2-2 from tel goals adrift. Young Beattie already looks a bit of a goal machine at the level.

The recent emergence of Arblaster and Peck has been very wholesome. I wonder if there is more to come? Hampson was brought through at Man U originally and is a regular on the scoresheet. Young Blacker too seems to be stepping up.

It all augers well for the future and I’m sure there are plenty that I’ve missed.

Without going all geeky on this, when I did mine the second time, I did some research into ACL injuries and I read that there were studies done on rugby league players with knee troubles when they’d retired.

Turned out some had torn or even ruptured them and never known, they just carried on playing (for years in some cases) never having an ACL injury diagnosed but the muscles around the knee stabilised the knee, effectively doing the job of the ACL.

It was only when they retired, got older and had muscle wastage that they found that the source of their pain and instability was due to things like ACL’s being torn during their career. In some cases the ACL being absorbed completely.

One of my friends tore his ACL playing 5-a-side. Didn't fancy an operation as he was self-employed at the time and needed an income. He was advised to build up the surrounding muscles to take over the job of stabilising the knee. Never really worked though - even light exercise or just standing around too long could cause it to just buckle under him.

I tore mine playing 5aside first in 2007 and surgeon recommended to do just that rather than an op. The muscles around the knee have to be really built through isolation exercises - lots of single leg work etc. stuff I wasn’t really interested in back then and I couldn’t play football to the level I wanted so gave that up, as you say because it would buckle too easily.

Ruptured it 2 years later when it locked up just walking through town. They reckon some debris somehow got stuck and then it ruptured when I tried to bend / straighten.

I tore my ACL in a motorbike accident 46 years ago, they didn't repair them then, so I had to build up my muscle in the knee to compensate. What it has done though is wear away the Meniscus and just had a full knee replacement. ACL can be a very serious injury, but modern medicine and techniques have vastly improved the prognosis. Has anyone actually any concrete evidence that he has indeed done his ACL?

Saw it on sky when I rewatched it, no one touched him

He was probably only on the field for another combined 2 minutes in the 2nd half though in between adverts and cheerleaders.

I remember having physio on my knee a few years ago and the physiotherapist saying that many All Blacks players barely have much left of their ACLs but it didn't really matter because they'd got that much muscle around their legs and knees that it didn't really matter.
