Roygbiv and I cover off Aaron Ramsdale vs Liverpool before returning to 2001 for this week's edition of our Memorable Match series, with the Blades' 2-1 win at Hillsborough in the 100th league meeting between the two clubs. We discuss the match in detail before dropping our favourite bits of trivia from the game - and there are some good ones this week, if I say so myself, featuring Deal Or No Deal, Craig Bellamy, Peter Shreeves not actually being called Peter Shreeves, and Gilles de Bilde's dogs.

Crap, I forgot to mention that in the OP - 11v11 reckons we pioneered a 4-3-4 formation that day with Richard Tracey up front. This did lead me to learn that we DID have a Richard Tracey on our books in the late 90s, but this is of course Simon (in goal not up top).

They’ve got such a better 11 than us here. Can’t remember feeling inferior on the day though, that was the first derby win I’d ever seen.

My main memories of this match; are slowly watching Asaba's header trundling in as Pressman wallowed in the mud and Bullock slicing the ball onto the crossbar. I think maybe this was the game where the Wednesday fan was giving it the big un as both sets of fans streamed up Penistone Road and walked straight into a roadsign. Unfortunately, no camera phones at the time.

Thanks lads for the pod, still listening to it all, but you can snip the 'current day' analysis to a couple of minutes for me at the moment!

Loved remembering the April fools day win, it's the only time I've ever seen us win there in attendance. Remember it very well as a proper London Blades day out, (and it's chronicled in Greenwich Blade 's book - this was the book season ).

Train up from London early morning. A very raucous tram journey up to Hillsborough, agree about the poor quality of the game, but that never really mattered in derbies.

"When we're beating the pigs,
It's not Beckham or Giggs,
It's ASABA!"

My vividest memories of the day came on the journey back. The tram journey afterwards back to the city centre took ages held up in awful traffic, and it became clear we were going to miss our train back to London. So must have been 10-15 London Blades got off at the Cathedral and ran full pelt all the way to the station (at least it's downhill) which was no mean feat considering the alcohol consumed and the 'varying' levels of fitness. Made the train by about 20 seconds if I recall correctly. Train journey also noted for an amount of 'banter' between ourselves and a bunch of southern based wednesdayites re-christened the Bedford Pigs.

My first trip to Hillsborough and one of my favourite Blades memories.

Most enjoyable pod.

I was not there - I was in Laos - and I haven't been to Hillsborough since 1995 and have no plans to do so ever again. I've been 8 times and they have won 6 and drawn 2, so I am a jinx.

Another reason why Wednesday fans dislike Asaba - when he scored for Millwall there in 2005-6 he made what was described as "Pig gestures" in front of their kop. Can't find it on Youtube, but it was very funny.

I moved house the day before. The in-laws travelled down from Scotland to help with moving stuff etc. There were still a few things to move on the Sunday but I had told the in-laws that I had to help my mum for a "few hours" but only my mum and Mrs Silent knew I went to the Sheffield derby instead and what a great day it was topped by seeing Warnock in his shorts celebrating with the Blades fans at the Leppings Lane End!

Was my 2nd trip to the sty - the 1st being a league cup game a few months prior (a night game I think where Ekoku scored a winner for them in extra time - pretty sure it was the first derby in years). Sat on Leppings Lane lower tier near the front so had a fantastic view of our goals. Was fun to walk up to my home at Stannington from Hillsborough among all the glum Wendies. I remember feeling quite confident before KO which is strange in hindsight when you look at the two starting lineups.
