Just feel a bit deflated really rather than angry. I keep going from feeling really downbeat about it all to almost finding it funny. Always stuck up for this team in terms of effort but there's no defending yesterday

The bit that gets me is that we hadn’t really seen anything to suggest this was coming in the games prior.Just feel a bit deflated really rather than angry. Went with a neutral mate. Half time he says this could be brutal. Nah, I said. Stays 3-0. Fuck me.
47 years. Never left early. I have now. 6-0. Couldn’t watch any more. Was in fucking Chesterfield at full time.
Yeah I'm really struggling to make sense of it. Obviously we have been lucky to not get hammered in other games this season but that was down to a lack of quality. Yesterday was a total surrender with absolutely no fight. Just bizarre from this team
I think we do need you and Beans to get this off your chests in a pod. You need it and we need it.Yeah I'm really struggling to make sense of it. Jesus Christ that makes for bad reading. You never really realise when physically at the game but that is shocking.Shots conceded (on target) this season:
vs Palace: 24 (8)
vs Forest: 16 (4)
vs City: 30 (9)
vs Everton: 16 (6)
vs Spurs: 28 (10)
vs Newcastle: 22 (15)
I think we did see signs that it was coming. That was actually our third best game in terms of shots against us!

Good point, well made.
I wonder out of interest what would be the median number of shots conceded per game by a lower half team over the last few seasons? Have we been badly under-performing this? I have no idea how to find this out, but perhaps someone can?
We’re aiming to record tomorrow but I’m not sure I have the energy to get stuck in. I left at 6-0 (I think, it was hard to keep track, but they scored another before I left the ground) as I realised I’d rather spend the time with my wife and kids than watch any more.
Maybe I’ll have moved onto the angry phase by tomorrow!
Edit: that reads like only losing 8-0 at home would make me want to spend time with my wife and kids. I mean that I realised I could get back for bath and bedtime if I left then!
Err aren’t you meant to be the optimistic one? We must be screwed! It’s only been six games so I’d expect (hope!) this will come down, but we’re currently miles worse than any team last season in terms of shots allowed per 90 and shots on target per 90.
Bournemouth averaged 16 shots against per game last season, worst in the league - we’re currently running at 22.
Bournemouth allowed a shade over 5 shots on target per game, worst in the league - we’re currently allowing 8.7
Edit: One more for fun, our expected goal difference per game this season is -1.8. So opponents have basically been 2 goals better than us in every game.
In a word, fuck.

Has Deadbat picked up the optimistic baton?I think that baton has been passed to some other accounts over the summerI always aimed for “realism” / semi-objectivity and there wasn’t much filling me with optimism going into the season.
to be fair this is the first game since Palace that I didn’t enjoy, and even then I thought we played pretty well Sunday for about 30 mins…
Understand if you don’t fancy it, but even after an 8-0 defeat I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts about it.We’re aiming to record tomorrow but I’m not sure I have the energy to get stuck in. Btw, the last 2 goals were (as per pretty much all the rest of the goals from Sunday) absolutely criminally embarrassing from a defensive point of view.

Worth highlighting the 6 games point. What was Bournemouth's stats after 6 games? It’s only been six games so I’d expect (hope!) this will come down, but we’re currently miles worse than any team last season in terms of shots allowed per 90 and shots on target per 90.

Have been in denial. Now moved on to anger. A head must roll for this. Not Hecky per se. But that defensive coach? He’s got to go. Zero credibility. We need a head on a pike for this. And he fits the bill.
If you extract the (hopefully) freak result on Sunday and the Man City match, how much does the expected goal difference come down by? It doesn’t feel like the opposition have been that much better than us in the other games. It’s only been six games so I’d expect (hope!) this will come down, but we’re currently miles worse than any team last season in terms of shots allowed per 90 and shots on target per 90.

Hi all, here's the post-Newcastle episode. Thanks for your patience, didn't have time yesterday and now I've got bloody covid (again) so apologies if this is even more low-powered than you might expect for an 8-0 tonking.
