Match Thread Blades v. Southend match chat

As an aside the scoreboard looks even worse than it used to
 
I'm at the match.

We started quite brightly. Southend look much poorer then Rochdale.

Then they score a fluky goal from their 1st attack. Their winger tried to put in a cross but our defender tried to stop the cross but ended up deflecting it with s wicked loop up and over Long. Not sure if our goalie could have done better. Yes it was a spinny looped defection but Long was almost on his line but it still went over his head. Reminded me of the goal conceded away at Grimsby. Long our his arms up but didn't jump that high.

A few minutes later a total disaster of a goal. The centre defender is favourite for the ball but he then stops running to let it run on to Long but amazingly Long stays in his line. Their forward runs for the ball and Long still hesitates to come off his line. Their player scores an easy goal. In future the defense should just clear it as their no communication or trust in the keeper.

At 2-0 down our team is in shock and their simply no marking for them to score an easy third 3-0.

For the rest of the half we've settled and done most of the attacking. Had some good situations but the final ball has been poor or the loose ball always falls to them.

The worrying think is that Southend look a really poor side, yet they lead 3-0 and for all our attacking we don't look like breaking down a team that defends in numbers.

Southend are now 3-0 up against the bottom of the league too (just checked and we are not bottom - yay!)

similar but take away any of the positives that you might have seen on Saturday. We should have had a pen at 0-0 (I think) but no shots on target in the first half.
 
Two things

Why do our players need longer to "bed in " than everyone else's

Why did we all believe that other teams cast offs were going to better than our own . They were surplus at Bury,Oxford, Narnia, Oldham etc . The clues are there guys

We'll be playing with no confidence now sadly. Hopefully an early goal will change things.
 
And if we can't beat Rochdale and Crewe why has the manager named another unchanged side
Says fuck all about the rest of the squad doesn't it

Well that was fucking garbage came away at half time not watching that rather be in pub.
 
Sorry to drag up the old Einstein and madness thing about when things go wrong stop doing it as it is a sign of madness. Same thing is when in a hole stop digging. However, when you have identified that Done is not a left winger, (as we all have) and that Sharpe doesn't work in this system with Clarke, that Long needs to be dropped, that Basham isn't a midfielder and finally that Brayford isn't as good as he was and needs replacing, then why do you keep announcing the same side? Do you really expect them to get any better in this shape Tufty? (As Pinchy calls him).

I fucking despair.
 



Anyone know Neil Warnock's address in Cornwall, I'll call in on him tomorrow and see if he fancies a season as Director of Football

Doesn't excuse the others though I agree. But I told you before that Wilder is building us a team of "average 3rd division Joes". It's not his fault- that's the brief he's got and all he has to work with.

So he's succeeding actually!
