Studying the highlights Evans (4 - incl. 2 testing shots), Fleck (3 incl.one testing shot) and Duffy (2 in only 45 minutes) were involved most in key moments.
Baldock did so well to be in position but fluffed the chance/great save too ( Fleck assist) , exactly same for Sharp on his chance (Duffy assist).
Wonderful goal, wonderful Evans cross, O'Connell brilliant assist, another Clarke goal - credit all three and Duffy for finding Evans when under severe pressure.
Two great attempts with long shots by Evans ( Stevens and Fleck did well in the first build-up)- one just wide and the other well saved.
Where were the others all game? Brooks, Lundstram, Stevens, Baldock didn't produce enough. Baldock 110% for effort but.....Stevens started well but.... Brooks gets deeper and deeper and can't surge past players of good teams as much. Lundstram far too pedestrian and not involved enough.
As for howlers, there was only real danger once - when Fleck lost Williams from that corner. The goal just should not have happened, no real danger until the ball went in!! - was Stevens asleep when Morrison was awake? Blackman saw it all unfolding but would never have got out to the ball, much better to have stayed put on his line but it's understandable why he stepped out. Not exactly a fluke but definitely a gift.
Looks a penalty but maybe 60/40 because Evans laid it on and was falling before the contact was made. Would be given 7 times out of 10 but refs have this type of diving at the top of their minds these days and see all sorts in situations. The defender was very lucky though.
Overall the amount of effort, skill and honest endeavour we produce to get one goal is immense and yet the opposition get the one goal reward for hardly anything. That's football.
Thanks again United for all the effort and commitment.
