Call me mad but I get the feeling we'll pick up the three points tonight. Two steps back, one step forward seems to have been the recipe for our season so far.

Just been looking at the stats though and Burton are a bit shit away from home. They've lost more matches on the road than us this season.
Burton have the third best away record in the division, they've won 9 away. In fact they have more away points than we've got at home.

They also have by far the best defence in the league and we've scored 3 times in our last 7 games.

If we go one behind, we'll be in trouble but we always live in hope that they might play well.

Cloughy has been obsessing about this fixture since he was appointed burton
manager. He's had his kit on running around his bedroom imagining scoring a
hat trick at the Kop end with Mcabe floundering in goal in baggy shit streaked
Y fronts .He walks of the pitch to
a standing ovation from blades fans.

I watched Burton away at Southend and i wasn't impressed with them, small sample size i know but that's all i have to go on, I think that says more about the league than anything though. I fancy us winning 2-1 holding on somehow at the end when Clough decides he has to go for it.

As it happens I'm getting the tram to a Town at 4. Having a wander round a few real ales pubs, and will be home at 2230 and by 2235 I'll be registering my disgruntlement at proceedings at the Lane not being to my liking......

That's the spirit Brownie. I also find that it's always necessary to get a minimum of 3 hours drinking time in before watching the Blades. The added bonus being that pubs will be fairly empty at that time, so no hassle getting served.

Clough knows first hand how poisonous Bramall Lane can be once the Kop gets restless. He'll look to keep it tight and frustrate us until the fans get on their backs. We don't have the quality to break down a solid defence, so we need to think hard about how we're going to get a goal. Sincerely hope I'm wrong but I think it'll be a Burton win by 1 or 2 goals.

I think it is the day that the Brewers lose their grip on the top spot. Blades to win, Wigan to beat the Wall and stop there the rest of the season.

Dingles and Cov bore draw, Bradford lose to the U's and Sarfend lose to the train spotters leaving us 2 points off 6th and 4 points off 5th - all nice and rosey

Now where's did I put that pint of Carling...

I think it is the first time Clough has come up against one of his old clubs as manager.

Down the sink hopefully!

I think it will be a scintillating 0-0 affair.

We couldn't score if Burton didn't turn up. At least we will all be out of our misery - for this season at least.

I think we will get a result tonight . There is more than 3 points at stake with the players and managers reputations on the line , and to prevent the fans going into meltdown. A win will also prevent McCabe's mind having a knee jerk reaction to the management situation of getting rid of Adkins and fuck the consequences.

Interesting night ahead for all .

Love all the punditry from all the tacticians on here, but does it really matter whether or not we win tonight?

Understand it's painful to accept but we are not going to make the play offs - that's been wishful thinking for many on here for weeks. Just because it's mathematically possible don't amount "to a hill of beans" and the reason for that is the continued inconsistency of the team. At the beginning of the season, Colchester had a mathematical chance of winning the league but it was never going to happen was it?

It's been a very frustrating season, to say the least. For my sins, I've watched a lot of the Blades this year, home and away, and the performances simply haven't been there - nothing like. It isn't going to change now is it and should we manage to turn over the mighty Albion tonight, we still need to hit an unbelievable run of form to get us into the top six. That's also relying on most of them above us (11 of them) go in the opposite direction.

Uber frustrating I know, and as this as been the poorest league I've seen (certainly over the last 5 seasons) - it feels like a real wasted opportunity.............and commercially, really bad business.

So for me it's well and truly over and it's now a question of next year. Let us hope that the oft quoted summer 'clear out' is successful and let's hope that Adkins proves to all that he really can build a team which, first and foremost, is properly equipped to get us out of this league. Let's worry about the Championship when we get there.

Absolutely fuckin cuckoo

Yes, it's likely we could get 3 points tonight. This forum will be full of 'Can we make the playoffs?' A bit of 'feel good' will wash around the place.

Then we'll lose 3-0 at Fleetwood.

Not like you to be pessimistic Trev? ;)

After almost 54 years of this, G, I'm happy to be merely pessimistic. Most others would be suicidal!

You in The P later?

yes mate, think Mrs G and myself will call in after the festivities at BDTBL, no doubt rejoicing our upturn in fortune!

Clough will know our strengths and weaknesses better than any other manager. I can see him trying to snuff out Sharp and Adams, and of course they will know all about Brayford's forward game, JCR's stepovers and limited crossing ability (if he plays) and JMac's propensity to give away fouls and limited pace.

Clough will be desparate to win this. Like his dad he's a bit of a big head with a lot of pride. I expect them to be looking for free kicks around our box, and we will probably see a few penalty claims / dives and gamesmanship. Clough will never live it down if he doesn't get promoted with the table-topping team he inherited from Hasslebaink. I expect a bad tempered game, result tough to call.
What strengths?

I don't know what impact Clough has had at Burton but I don't think he has been there long enough yet for his ego to alienate that many, so seeing as there is every chance the majority of that squad still like him they will probably want to win this one for him and will enjoy attempting to turn us over.

I don't think we will be hammered but a narrow defeat I reckon.

This doesn't make sense though because I read on here that we were better away than at home because of our shit home fans.
Used to be the case but now...? Would u like to be playing away at the moment with our "fans" right on top of u at those shitty little grounds? Maybe we may improve a little if we just play games behind closed doors - and if we lose, and perform, badly tonite the repercussions may result in this happening...

So are we playing 352 with Done as left wing back or back to 442 with Adams left wing and Done up front with Billy ?
