Right, we go again. :)

Last season I started the 'Memries of...' thread and the Birmingham ones are here:

Memries of Brum and…

Memries – of Birmingham.

Since our last meeting – a 1-2 defeat at St. Andrews on 21st April earlier this year, the third-from-last game of the 2017-18 season, what has changed?

Birmingham finished 19th last season, avoiding relegation by five points. Despite being very early in the season, the Blades have made a solid start and currently sit 5th in the table, Birmingham have yet to record a win and sit fourth from bottom…

Obviously, Che Adams is known to us. Club record signing from Brentford Jota has yet to justify his £6m+ transfer fee paid on August 31st 2017 (he only scored 5 goals in 39 appearances last season). Jutkiewicz has completed 80 games since joining The Blues –scoring 17 goals. Ex-Owl midfielder Jacques Maghoma joined City in June 2015 and has scored 14 goals in 115 appearances – including the winner in our last meeting on April 21st.

Form Guide:

The Blades sit in third place. The Blues are currently in 22nd. What can possibly go wrong?

The Manager:

Gary Monk was appointed manager on 4 March 2018. He signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, and became Birmingham's fifth permanent manager in 15 months.

The Blades aren’t 3rd and the Blues aren’t 22nd

I expect it will be a horrible game against a horrible club with seriously horrible supporters. I shall attend in a horrible frame of mind and be horribly wrong if anything good comes of the whole horrible fixture. Birmingham City are a club I would genuinely love to see go out of business. No redeeming qualities on any level. I can only say that about two other clubs, I think you could name them both with ease.
Simpleh Horrible.

As usual mate...Great analysis.

My simple take on this game is as follows though...

"Blades v Brum? - we'll smack their bum".;)

Birmingham City remains the only away game I’ve attended where their fans were pissing in the pub before the game. IN THE BAR.

I'm sorry, but taking holidays in the football season is your fault. Like taking kids away during term-time, it should be punished severely. :D

Nope, no it isn't. And I have a pair of Homer Simpson socks that say as much. So there!

jotter a good player but not dissimilar to grealish in the poncey over exaggeration when tackled ,that's my humble opinion .

Remember this one in our three sided ground? Mad game

Half that team ended up playing for us:
Hunt
Bennet
Devlin
Furlong
Bruce.

Was that the game when it was absolute carnage after on London Road?
I remember seeing a Sierra full being rocked by around 15 kids just by the Sheldon. A big brummie tried to get out but got slapped and thought better of it.

Very unstable those early editions of the Sierra. I believe Ford made an announcement about the same and modified the design soon after. Very susceptible to cross-winds, so wouldn’t stand up well to a bit of “cradle” treatment from the Shoreham boys at the time.

Just read your Cortina MkIII post and I assume you've got a Ford type tear in the corner of your eyes and slightly damp pants....

It wasn't being 'cradled' in the sense that I'd previously known it. Some of the lads must have been panel beaters as they seemed keen to help with their boots and fists while the others were obvious exhaust fitters and wanted to check everything was okay underneath.

Ha! It’s our coincidence that I seem to be discussing Ford’s a lot of late!

I learned to drive in an Escort Mk 1. I once nearly bought an Escort Mexico ( now that WAS a great car). I had a Cortina Mk 3, 2000 GXL. I also had 2 more Cortina Mk 4’s as company cars. A 1.3 L which was pitiful! Grossly underpowered and terrible in ice or snow, and a 1.6 Cortina which was a good car.

I had one of the first edition Sierra’s. And I’ve had two Ford Foci! Sierra was rubbish but both Foci were really good cars. Plenty of room. Decent to drive. Very reliable. Cheap motoring.

I suppose when I think of it I’m a bit of a fan of Ford cars. They are usually good value for money and cover all bases with the range.

Prefer the more prestige brands though!
