They'll come back with a 2-3m offer. McCabe will have pound signs in his eyes and accept :D

I hope we can play this one well and get a little more out of them. £1.5mil would be terrific business and a huge boost to the kitty.

Mad that we've turned that down. The game is going a bit doolally.

In all seriousness, I don't think DCL is worth £1 million and when I met with CW a few months ago I got the impression that he didn't rate him that highly at the moment although recognised his potential. Having said that, it is a fact that Prem teams have too much cash to splash so why not hold out for more on this occasion - it's a win win as DCL is unlikely going to be a star performer for us this season and if we get £1 million plus, we can use it to strengthen further.

McCabe would do well to hold out against this bid. He might have £ signs in his eyes ... but will it go back into the playing staff?

I think DCL could turn out to be a decent player but not to sure yet as I haven't seen all that much of him apart from a couple of matches last season so still 50/50 on him. I don't think he is ready for the first team yet though and think for a premiership side to be interested in him is a massive risk. I am happy to see we have turned that bid down as mentioned by other posters prem clubs now have so much money that young players like DCL have to be worth a lot more. I think if we could be looking at 1.5-2m upfront and then bonuses and sell on clause on top then yes possible sell him but only if that money was actually reinvested into the team.

And who would blame him? And somebody would still give him grief, who knows how good he is going to be, met him last year at a wedding, lovely, sensible lad, best of luck son, wherever your future lies.

The two most important opinions are DCL's and CW's.

If DCL wants to stay, no rush in agreeing any deal.

How does CW rate his potential. I'm sure he's discussed it with the board. DCL is a player he knows well so is in a very good position to assess him. If he's said 'within 2 years this lad will be the business' it makes sense to keep him.
We may get a good offer that CW thinks is too good to turn down and I'm sure he'll tell the board if that is the case.

Can't believe we have rejected £1 million - he's not even worth half that :D
An asset is worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Premier league clubs revenue has gone up ten fold in a few years. If they really like bin another 1m is neither here nor there to them. We need to hold out for as much as possible.

It's all relative. They're an oil club now so we can hold out for triple the current offer and it would be an effective rounding error on their accounts

I agree FB - that particular post of mine was a poor attempt at irony!

I think I've completely missed something here. DCL looked like s typical youngster being given a bit of a run out at the end of a dead season. Lacks pace, no obvious quality in front of goal and general looked a rabbit in the headlights. £1 million is crazy money for me, this is a guaranteed Slew career IMO.

If the money is used on the squad, I would have snapped their hands off to be honest.

Obviously I trust wilder knows what he's doing and he's seen more if DCL than I have, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that £1m for him isn't a brilliant deal

He doesn't look a first teamer yet, but he really doesn't lack pace. His athleticism and (very) raw talent means he's sought after.

He needs to learn the game, but the natural attributes you can't teach are definitely in place. Now it's up to United to stick or twist - in three years time he could be worth ten times what Everton are offering, or just one tenth. That's the game.
