Too much time on my hands, so came up with this "Crocked" XI (+ sub)

GK: Richard Wright - Subbed in both of his first-team appearances. Amazingly still has a pro contract with the richest team in England!
RB: Ryan France - How we laughed when we "stole" him from the Pigs. We weren't laughing for very long...
LB: Simon Walton - (loan) Injured before he even played.
CB: Martin Dickinson - Had to retire after a car crash on the Parkway shortly after signing.
CB: Paul McGrath - Couldn't train, no knees left - still world-class.
RM: Brian Launders - First-team career lasted all of 10 minutes.
CM: James Wallace - Has one man ever racked up as many injuries in two seasons?
CM: John Ebbrell - Hope he was insured - if not that was a very expensive 45 minutes!
LM: Alan Whittle - Contract cancelled after failing a medical.
F: Will Hoskins - He was injured when we signed him, and stayed injured. Amazed he managed to play 12 times.
F: Rob Hulse - Not really fair to include him as a crock, but the knock-on effect of his injury was huge.
Sub: Simon Webster - Never really recovered from that sickening leg break.

Brian Smith was a promising young full back until breaking his leg in what looked an innocuous looking tackle, maybe out for six months was the initial diagnosis....forced to retire 18 months later after never playing again.

Steve Paterson signed from Man U in 1980. Injuries prevented him from ever playing in the 1st team. Julian Winter in 1989 too

Was Carl Serrant loaned by Warnock during his first pre-season and didn't make a single appearance due to injury, or was this something I've just imagined?

Cliff Powell was another, young defender signed by Bassett from Watford, picked up a serious knee injury early on and that was it for his career

We definitely had him on loan, but he was "recalled" after about a week. Not sure whether he was injured.

McGrath was never crocked and unable to play for us - he just went out on a bender and never returned.

Simon Walton a classic Blackwell signing from his Leeds Leeds Leeds days, may have stayed up of he wasn't crocked....

Didn't Dean Sturridge & David Johnson get injured on loan with us or were they just shit? Two great strikers who were shit for us.

Parrino, that lad from Argentina. Sure he was crocked.

Chris Armstrong & Kabba although they were success stories. Armstrong in particular. Fuck me we had Armstrong and Naysmith competing for LB and we still didn't go up. Kabba came back from injury and was amazing for 3 months and then disappeared what happened?

I bet if you counted all of Warnock's signings you probably wont remember about a quarter. Marcel Cas, Luke Beckett

Ohh, zablade. I was stood on the kop that day to the right of the goal halfway up, and the innocuous tackle went in just in front of the dugouts. We heard the crack where we were standing. It was quite obvious he was in real trouble.

I like Smithy. No nonsense player. It was his toughness and lack of fear which sent him into that tackle. It wasn't David Buust-style sickening, but my mate said to me "Fuck! That was Smithy's leg that was!"

Tom McAllister. Potentially the best keeper we've ever had. And then that twat Rodney Marsh breaks Toms leg. Never quite the same again.
In summer 1974 he returned to action playing in a reserves friendly match at Altrincham but broke his leg again after landing awkwardly on the hard ground

Think one of the most unfit players I`ve seen was Simon Lappin, who joined us on loan from Cardiff City, under Clough.

He`d been out a long time, and he played like his legs were on the wrong way, for the first couple of games.
Didn`t play beyond his initial loan spell I think.

At St Johnstone now, as their fans try and get over losing Michael O Halloran to Rangers

No Cuvellier? No Likey.

Even when he signed, my Pompey mates sniggered.

Strange, isn't it. Many signings we 'acquire' (I won't say 'buy', because we don't 'buy' players any more, do we?) I usually get some fan from the releasing club messaging me on FB or some other laughing and saying 'good luck with this set-of-suitcases/wanker/useless-cunt.

The last time I genuinely saw an opposition fan gutted we'd got their player was a mate of mine who lived down the corridor from me in the naval establishment I was staying at in the early nineties who was a dirtyleeds fan. He had the walls of his cabin plastered with dirtypics (of dirtyleeds, of course) and I arrived back at my cabin to find he'd pushed the pic of Vinnie Jones under my door with 'CUNT!' magic markered across his face. He wouldn't talk to me for a week after we signed Jones.

He was moved on to Watford in our Prem season after a great spell during our promotion season. Warnock said something along the likes of “I do his head in and he does my head in” as well him wanting to go back down south. I was sorry to see him go. I always liked Kabba as a player.
