Blades starting to gel - Montgomery

Tue 08 Jan, 12:15 PM

Sheffield United midfielder Nick Montgomery reckons are only just starting to get to grips with Bryan Robson's style of management. The Blades have endured a poor first half of the season following relegation and the departure of Neil Warnock, and Montgomery feels the transition at Bramall Lane was never going to happen overnight.

He said: "Everyone knew there would be a chance that Neil Warnock might leave if we went down.

"He did a fantastic job and helped to move the club forward so much. We used to get crowds of 12 to 13,000 when he took over, but now we're getting 25 to 26,000 and that shows how far the club has come.

"We've changed the way we play slightly this season because Bryan Robson wants to play a bit more of a passing game.

"We just need that consistency. Bryan and (assistant manager) Brian Kidd are great people. We've had a slow start to the season, but we just need that consistency."

Bit late to start gelling now though.

We are well behind everyone else and I do not see us having a late surge into the play-offs.

I don't agree. If we did gel, there is still plenty of time to reach the play offs.

is robson any good at team building if its took them this long to gel?

think the fans will be the judge if we have gelled enough and not there hairs.

Allardyce is a top class manager and his team hasn't gelled yet. So it's not just because Robson is a poor manager, sometimes it's a difficult thing to do when you're trying to change the style of play.

so warnock is a shit manager because he managed it "too fast"?

allardyce is a decent manager but i wouldn't call him top class. Wenger is top class.

bit of a hoofball merchant too is Big Sam.

Paddy's started gelling his hair. He's got a mullet.

I'm not saying that, what I was saying is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It can't come solely down to the manager.

To do what he did at Bolton with the amount of money he had is a sign of a top manager for me.

yeah i know what you mean :)

don't get me wrong he is a good manager but wouldn't class him in the top bracket.
