I think a lot of the problem will be staff.
" Do want a job for two hours, every other week?" . Not going to be inundated with CVs.

I arrived late the other week, so there was no queue. Had a pie, and it was fine. Nothing special, not rubbish.
However, no good how it was going to be, I wouldn't queue for 10 minutes+ for any offering.
Probably more like 4-5 hours given all that goes in. Especially when you've got a decent student population right next to you there's always people wanting a shift. The admin that goes into that is probably not cheap if the club does it themselves.

I know it's easy to look at stuff from the outside and not see how much goes into it, but so much of it feels to me like a part of football that hasn't moved forward in years. You get the odd ground where it's set up well, but most are set up the way they always have been. As others have said, you go over to the other side of the ground and try the John Street and it's night and day. It's not top quality but it's far better.

Who really gives a fuck? People who care about the food quality at football matches, especially buying all the weird crap on offer at other clubs need their hard drives checking.

Compass have obviously offered the most money to the club. That’s all that matters. Let them crack on while they make a loss.

No, the thing to do on ferris obviously to crab the deal whilst knowing nothing about it other than the reported contract length.

It’s the same produce but the additional facilities enable better presentation.

Main difference between South Stand and John Street is that there is space for a kitchen on JS. Which allows them to produce chips, etc.

South Stand has no kitchen supplying the concourse, just heated storage cabinets behind the bars. Hence, lukewarm pies and sausage rolls is the limit.

I don’t really care. Love a shit pie at the match, me. Many a shit game has been redeemed by a shit pie. Or at least, over decades, the best thing about a Saturday afternoon has often been a shit pie.

And Compass are the proven kings of the shit pie.

All Compass Aren’t We.

Indeed. Those that say “wharrabaht on’t Kop?” - it’s essentially a heap of dirt with some seats on. What catering are you expecting on the top of a heap of dirt?

To be fair (something I'm not always good at), it's much more difficult to cater to 30k than 500

I remember going to Yeovil, and they didn't have any gas for the grill on the burger stand behind the bar.

I think basic competence is a large part of it, not just scale.

Of course. I was referring more to the possibility of local SME's getting involved. I'd love to see it but it might just be too big of a task and a risk

Should have tried something new Blades, spend more to make more!
Am sure I'm not the only one who, for health and enjoyments sake, chooses to avoid the food as it is!😬

Just an update that I understand catering is on the agenda to discuss at the first Fan Advisory Board meeting with the club in late March.

I can’t think of many fan related meetings when we aren’t doing well on the pitch where it hasn’t been an agenda point :)

Most of the staff are on 0 hour contracts and there’s new staff pretty much every single home game. Which is why half of them don’t know what there doing, I unfortunately used to work their as a manager until I quit - biggest load of unorganised shit ever, quite frankly embarrassing but it was 8 or so years ago but it doesn’t seem to have changed.

Kids not knowing when their next shifts going to be, getting paid peanuts and getting abused by pissed up / coked up customers.

Yep, attractive job…..

The club needs to get onto Compass about them selling “pints” that are 3/4 inches of froth. You’d expect a lack of training but some of the kids are quite capable of pulling a pint whilst others clearly don’t give a monkeys and are more interested in chatting with their minder.

If we keep losing 5 nil+ at home there won’t be any fans to eat the shit good anyway!

Half time sales must be down because 50% of the starting gate are sat at home having watched us play our way out of another home game by the 30th minute.

All of that is true, the model is shit. Most of these issues are nothing new and will have been raised with the club before, yet they give them another 10 year contract

Given we have been lumbered with them for 15 years already, I can’t see anything changing over the next 10 years that they’ve gifted them.

Why a 10 year contract? Don't people perform better when they are in their final year?
