That in his brief spell with us Andy Goram refused to wear a green goalkeepers kit and would only wear orange
Wettest night game I've ever been to. Anyone who went deserved a medal.Everyone being there for the Port Vale match despite it being our lowest league attendance in living memory
I read that we agreed a fee then they upped it. The fee was around 400,000??I was looking for this exact rumour! I believe that we saw a prospect, but the board would have had to sanction an British record transfer fee and they weren't ready or willing to do so on a teenager.
I wasn't there. I thought fuck that not bothering. Missed a classic, obviously.Everyone being there for the Port Vale match despite it being our lowest league attendance in living memory
He not only meant Blackpool but he says Blackpool, when (from memory) he's having his hair cut in Hong Kong.Well thats lovely - except we didn't play at Hartlepool whilst he was travelling.
His journey started on 25th Sept - we had already played Hartlepool twice in the LC that season, drawing 2-2 away and winning 2-0 at home.

Based on where he was in his journey - my assumption is (assuming no artistic licence) he actually means the Blackpool match
The whole thing is well explained in Matthew Bell's book "Viva Sabella"I read that we agreed a fee then they upped it. The fee was around 400,000??
Is this the large ladies in gangway C or D? At the front? I had a season ticket next to some in the 92-95 seasons.Fat family are now quite thin
This shouldn't even be a thing. The man even had his United hip flask with him in Full Circle.
And in the book of Around The World In 80 Days, drifting off to sleep on a dhow in the Arabian Sea he writes
"The soft lapping of the waves and the steady chug of the Kelvin set a soporific mood, and the last detail I remember of the world is that Sheffield United have won 2-1 at Hartlepool..."
Better than Shakespeare that.

The Bobby Davison Derby was pretty bloody wet. Not that noticed though.
Altogether now:
"Bobby, Bobby, Bobby Davison"*
*If you are of a certain age and got off on that, feel free to change the words to 'Linegan' and 'Andy' in am imorovised mash up style.
Innit.
That The Chief was any good. If you'd nailed his feet to the pitch he couldn't have been any slower.
The funniest thing is he'd get thrown on for the last 20 minutes for an injection of pace!
That Derby had commentary from Ian St John, former assistant manager at Sty6, saying he had never heard atmosphere like the Blades fans that night at S6. Pissed off many Styites. The Bobby Davison Derby was pretty bloody wet. Not that I noticed though.

I remember Linighan playing against us for Palace I think it was, and I had to ask my Dad why we were all cheering for him.

I thought it was QPR, but you could be right.
The cheers went up from the Kop when he came on as sub and the chant started. It was obvious his teamates were confused - 'did you play for this lot then?;
When we beat Arsenal 1-0 in the 3rd round replay in 1996, Linighan was on the bench for Arsenal. He was warming up on the South Stand touchline near the Kop and many people (including me) stood up and clapped him, and were chanting his name. Linighan clearly thought it was funny and raised his arms in acknowledgment.I thought it was QPR, but you could be right.
