Just had a look at a database I have access too and it say the last fild accounts were Feb 2008.

Therefore the Feb 2009 accounts should have been filed by Dec 2009 and I am pretty certain they haven't. And neither have any of the Scarborough accounts by my reckoning.

Could be perfectly valid reasons for this, eg change of accounting date to June 2009 in line with plc, but I couldn't see any reference to this.

Wonder if they are having trouble with getting the accounts signed? That's pure speculation of course. Anyone any ideas?

Depends what database you are using. The accounts might well have been filed, but haven't hit the database yet. I use FAME, but haven't got access to it today, so can't check.

Agreed - they probably will have been. I haven't got Companies House or Fame.

The scary thing for me is that even when the Feb 2009 figures are available, the subsequent 12 months to current day has not in my opinion seen any sign of recovery, regardless of official end to recession.

I consider me sen v lucky to have a job. Security is zero. I know plenty who are still now taking pay cuts and losing jobs.

Thank god I don't own a property company with £50m debt and with impaired assets, or if I did I'd need a huge chunk of freehold on Bramall Lane and two young kids called Kyle and a Trevor B to help me through, probably.

What I don't understand is how the SUFC plc June 2009 accounts can include figures for Realty? Any auditors help me with this? The business review on page 10 mentions a negative contribution from Realty of £1.6m - I have no idea what this means and for what dates it is referring to but I guess it is year to June 2009.

I think this is fairly common, I had an essay to write last month which involved a financial analysis of SME IT related companies. I went through FAME and searched for several (well known) IT retail websites, UK game/software companies and ISPs and as far as I can remember all of them had 2008 as the last available submitted accounts.

Not February 2008 though.

If a company latest submitted accounts are June 2008, the June 2009 accounts do not have to be submitted until April 2010 by my reckoning - ie no problem.

May 2008 accounts mean May 2009 are still not late - ie submit to CH in March 2010.

Companies House doesn't take long to update - overdue and no change of accounting reference either. Hope they like fines, Co. House are bastards for it.

No wonder we're selling all our players, someone's got to pay all those fines...

In my experience there are 2 basic reasons why accounts are late.

Either there is a total lack of responsibility and awareness of the rules by the directors or the directors are fully aware of the reporting requirements but are in some way wanting to delay publication - and the latter is rarely for positive reasons.
